Joe Zura Posted 17 hours ago Posted 17 hours ago My suggestion for OTF is we cancel/ban @Gerry Hamilton because he eats corn dogs with mayo 🤢🤢🤮🤮 1 Quote
georgethepunter Posted 16 hours ago Posted 16 hours ago I would love a weekly show/segment breaking down players on the opposing team that Texas recruited and any draft prospects. We follow these kids for months and then they sort of disappear. Would be fun to get an update on their careers every once in a while. 1 Quote
drag worm Posted 16 hours ago Posted 16 hours ago I feel like the loss of LHN’s pregame and postgame opens a huge opportunity for someone to step in as “the” source for pregame and postgame coverage and discussion. It’s one of the few things LHN got right. You guys should fill that role and have CJ on location doing interviews with players, etc after the games. When you do all get to games together like TXOU or major bowls you should consider a legit branded desk production you could sit at and broadcast from with a guest seat, etc. Ambitious yes but the need is there so why not the best most connected dudes in the business filling the role LHN left behind. 1 Quote

You've got the best content but I don't have an hour daily to watch. Hopefully boosted views and engagement offsets the costs. Fully agree. Klatt and Cowherd probably do it the best and realize it’s extra production effort. Makes consumption rate skyrocket. Also, for weekly shows where they are clearly broken up into different segments, consider creating chapter bookmarks on video segments to make it easy to scroll to different topics when time is limited. Bevo92 Posted 16 hours ago Posted 16 hours ago First, CJ, thanks for putting this out to OTF. It’s awesome the way Bobby and team are constantly working to improve OTF. Here’s a suggestion. During the season (especially football and possibly basketball/baseball to an extent), consider doing regular Top 5, Top 10 or even just Top 3 lists. For example, after the game on Sunday could be Top 10 plays of the game (mix of plays across offense, defense, ST) Call out the ‘Catch of the Game, Throw of the Game, Run of the Game, Hit of the Game, ST Play of the Game, Best Play call of the game, etc. Name the Top 3 Players on Defense and Top 3 on Offense after each game. All ways to make it fun and celebrate the team and individual play. Coukd do something similar for basketball, only shorter list. Maybe just Top 3 plays of the game. Hook em!! 🧡🐂🤘🏼 2 Quote
All Gas No Brakes Posted 16 hours ago Posted 16 hours ago In addition to all the regular shows, I loved tuning into the postgame last year with Brian Robison and Rod B. Also really enjoyed Lunch with the Coaches! Coach Irwin and Shipley bring it🤘🏼 One thing I would recommend staying away from is getting into specifics about injuries. Whether it’s severity, recovery timeline, rehab, etc. I come from this world and it’s very apparent that most of the information presented is not very accurate when it comes to the specifics. You guys are the best place for all information regarding Texas athletics, including team info, recruiting, evaluation, etc. But unless you bring in someone who specializes in injuries and rehab, I would refrain from discussing in too much detail. 1 Quote

Ronald Dato Posted 15 hours ago Posted 15 hours ago Too much talk about the past teams by the former DB, who now moderates various podcast on OTF you tube.. I'm interested in today's longhorn sports and not when he played years ago. 1 Quote

And I respectfully disagree, having historical perspective on current situations can provide insight assuming, it’s relevant. 2 Quote

Alex Butler Posted 14 hours ago Posted 14 hours ago I’d love to have more former players in the watch with us and post game. It would also be nice to have a recap with those guys focusing on their specific area of expertise on the breakdown as well as commentary from you, Jeff, Bobby, and Gerry! Might be fun to have a contest where a subscriber gets to join the team during in game and post game? Quote
Bevo92 Posted 14 hours ago Posted 14 hours ago It was great during softball playoff run when y’all had current active players on OTF for interviews. Would love to have more current active players on OTF for interviews throughout the year from football, basketball, baseball, volleyball, softball, etc. Great way to get to know players. Realize you do it some, just suggesting more when possible. 1 Quote

They had someone that covered the opponent on OTF every single week last season. Quote

I love listening to Rod's stories...........and it's not like he's just going to down memory road on a joy ride. He uses his past experiences to provide insight into the current team and culture. People should cherish Rod B. I know I do. 4 Quote
Longhorns1 Posted 11 hours ago Posted 11 hours ago Post-process the audio (or calibrate the microphones,) especially on interviews, to have each speaker’s voice at about equal volume. Quote

He is referencing the old "Ricky", "VY", "Catch" and "Jammer (big hit)" awards they would give out for each game during the post game show, and you guys could pick that up and even add the "Special Teams" play of the game. Plus, while I know and appreciate the sensitive nature of critiquing individual players, it would be great to at least maybe highlight the difference-makers in the game - good and bad. You know Sark has spoken about how they have the team sessions, I think called "The Good, Bad and Ugly" on Sundays or Mondays where they don't rag on players, but point out the effort, technique and attention to detail plays when a player truly excelled at those, but also when a player badly missed one or more of those during the scope of the game. You know Sark's favorite saying to the players: “Who you are some of the time is who you are all of the time.” Accountability matters. Lastly, I think on your Sunday show or better yet, on the Monday morning Coffee and Football, it would be great to add a segment that would be a take off on the old Norm Hitzges spot here in Dallas radio of the "5 Plays that Shaped the Game" that typically focused on less heralded plays that really were game changers for Dallas Cowboy games. That would be a cool thing for the mods to have researched and "present" their cases of a couple each on Monday mornings. Oh, and if you think it would be well-received to have one of your great sponsors on to provide a pure fan comment/perspective now and then, I would be all for that!!! 🙂 Hook'em! 2 Quote
Austalgia Posted 7 hours ago Posted 7 hours ago (edited) Rod is great! I enjoy his insight into the program as a first hand source as much as anything else at OTF. If some of you guys are so negative and can’t see the value in something here, don’t watch that show. It’s pretty simple. Especially if you can’t critically put together that Rod played AT Texas, lived the life of these current players. He is a student of the modern game, played it at the highest level, and has forgotten more about football than most of you could comprehend. Just a note, In anything, if you have someone that has lived it, just shut up and listen to them. Wolrd War 2 veteran, your parents/grandparets, someone who has been through any part of life you haven’t. The best way you can learn about the present is by listening and learning from the past. Longhorns1 Posted 2 hours ago Posted 2 hours ago They may be busy celebrating on their site, but how about a guest speaker from the opposing site after a loss? We’ll spend enough time beating ourselves up. Might as well see if they have any insights from an opposing view. Quote
