They’re about to start the FBS head coaches panel discussion. It’s all of the FBS coaches in Texas doing a Q&A with Craig Way.

On Sark’s side of the stage: Jeff Traylor (UTSA), Scotty Walden (UTEP), Mike Elko (Texas A&M), Sonny Dykes (TCU), GJ Kinne (Texas State) and Joey McGuire (Texas Tech).

Craig Bohl from the AFCA just said there’s never been more of a lack of clarity in football than what coaches are dealing with right now.

”The good news is,” he said, “the cavalry is coming.”

Just now, Jeff Howe said:

Craig Bohl from the AFCA just said there’s never been more of a lack of clarity in football than what coaches are dealing with right now.

”The good news is,” he said, “the cavalry is coming.”

A lot of talk about agents and players getting exploited with no oversight in the NIL era.

Sark’s question is about the function of the general manager in college football.

Operating within and managing the cap is the biggest role of the GM, Sark said. You’ve got to divide the cap between recruiting, taking care of the current roster and player retention. Sark said it’s a “thankless job,” but he and Brandon Harris are on the same page and he likes that he’s got someone he trusts in that role so that he can focus on coaching.

Sark said at some point there will be a program that goes over the cap, and he doesn’t want it to be Texas. That’s why Brandon Harris is so important to how the Texas program operates.

Best way to do it is require players to be represented by a qualified agent and then punish the agents who should be fiduciaries.

I agree!

As Sark said earlier today, UTEP’s Scotty Walden said it’s never been more important for high school football coaches to have the best interest of football prospects in mind and to make sure they’ve got a voice.
