Welcome to the nations #1 defense Ohio State.

August 30th can’t come soon enough for me . I hope our offense goes wild on Ohio State. I know our defense will . “HOOKEM “

Ohio State fans are very confident that their defense will be elite once again. Ohio State fans believe they have the best secondary in CFB, and one of the top 3 linebacker units.

I simply said I hope our offense goes wild . I realize Ohio State has a monster team . I’m just a Longhorn fan my friend.

Fair enough. Good luck to your Horns on 8/30, and hopefully you are making the trip! For Horns fans who went to Ann Arbor last season and who will be also making the trip to Columbus, I would to hear your comparison between the two campus’, atmospheres, etc

Will be interesting to see without Jim Knowles.

I think a big reason we aren’t as worried as a lot of outsiders think we should be is because Knowles didn’t take any staff with him (except for maybe some analysts that we never heard of). All of the position coaches return. We also have alot of faith in Ryan Day’s ability to make great hires, so we have a lot of faith in Patricia.

Any concerns with your team through the first week or so of practice?

Our concerns going into fall camp were QB, RB, and DL.

From everything that’s been reported, the running backs (James Peoples from San Antonio will be RB1 with CJ Donaldson Jr, transfer from WVU, as RB2) have been impressive and the defensive end room is talented and deep.

There still isn’t any depth at DT. The starters (Eddrick Houston & Kayden McDonald) are very good, but if one of them get injured, or when they need to take plays off, Texas should have a pretty big advantage on the interior when they have the ball.

So I will say our biggest concerns are

1. Neither of the QBs are experienced, will they be ready for Texas’ defense week one? Or will they look completely out of their element.

2. DT depth

3. Matt Patricia being the DC.

I would say #1 and #2 and then there’s a pretty big gap between those two and our third biggest concern.

What about for Texas fans? Where are you guys the most and least confident at this point in fall camp?

How are you guys feeling about your OL? From a distance, I look at Texas replacing 4/5 starters from last year and the backup RT getting lost for the season, and I think there’s no way they get the better of Ohio State’s defense.

Are Ohio State fans wrong for feeling this way? It doesn’t seem like UT fans or the national media have the same concerns, so maybe I’m missing something.

Our OL will take a step back in my opinion.

OL takes a step back in pass blocking but looks improved in run game. Receivers are unproven but i dont think it will be a huge issue.

My two biggest concerns would be how the secondary looks, hard to loose the Thorpe winner and be the same. Have we solved the red zone scoring issue.  Field goals will not be enough against OSU elite playmakers.

Highly confident in our defense.  All three levels look solid, this could be the best D we've seen in decades at Texas. Hill is possibly the best LB in the nation and a returning All American.  Taafe (S) made a few 2nd and 3rd team All American lists last year. Colin Simmons (EDGE) is probably the best player on the team, projected a top 5 NFL pick in 2 years.  Lot of depth in the interior DL, maybe six deep right now.  Plenty of talented young guys at most positions.  We like our D a lot.

On offense the WRs should be good (not as good as yours but good) but a bit thin on depth.  TE - you got the # 1 transfer TE but we got the # 2 guy and think he'll catch a lot of balls. Behind him we lack experience but supposedly have talent.  RB - returning 1,000 yard rusher with Wisner and a couple of talented backups, but no one knows when Baxter will be fully healthy. QB - we feel comfortable that Arch will play better than Sayin in this game, though the Heisman talk seems crazy right now. The biggest Q to me is the OL, after losing four starters.  We'll see ...

If our D is suffocating and our O doesn't make too many glaring mistakes we feel we can win, especially if we get a lead early and can unleash the pass rush.  For you to win I think our OL needs to get confused or overrun at times and our young QB makes a key mistake or two (watch the first Georgia game for the nightmare scenario).

Should be a great game and a key season indicator for both programs.
