Bunk Moreland Posted 2 hours ago Posted 2 hours ago Seems like you can read a lot between the lines about how Day thinks this game is going to play out. He expects Texas to come out swinging and Sark will have a strong script. His comments about halftime adjustments being critical and begging the fans to make a difference suggest to me that he thinks Texas might go up in the first half. His comments about surrounding Sayin with talent suggest to me that he isn’t totally sold that Sayin can win them this game. The vibes feel completely different compared with Sark yesterday. 3 1 Quote

Sayin has been QB1 for about a week. It's hard to be the leader you need to be when you just became the guy. As hard as Quinn tried to be the leader, we seen when Arch got in the game guys played more intentionally, the crowd cheered so loud it could have cracked your TV screen. Being the unquestioned leader of the team sounds like coach speak, but it's important. I'm curious as to what happens if Sayin doesn't play well, will there be a split. The most popular guy in the locker room is QB2. 3 Quote

My take was Day says almost the same thing every press conference and he was not going to put anything out there to motivate Texas. Quiet confidence in the process and prep is what it is. Quote

Nothing any player or coach says or doesn't is going to motivate them more or tame their motivation. Quote

Looking forward to a heckuva a ball game. 3 Quote

That’s what I heard as well. The halftime adjustment answer tells me that the 3rd quarter is going to be crucial for us. We need our 3rd quarter woes completely solved. 1 Quote
Dread-headed Texan Posted 38 minutes ago Posted 38 minutes ago As I watch the Michigan/Ohio State game I'm so glad we got Baxter and Clark back. I can't wait until we get in short yardage and goal to go situations where we aren't running zone schemes. Quote

If Day & Ohio State throw caution to the wind like the playoff run and get out to a fast start it could be a long day for Texas. During the regular season last year the Buckeyes started slow and usually turned it up in the 3rd quarter. Now we have a new OC, but I think Day most likely personally scripted the first 15 plays for Saturday and will be calling the majority of this game with Hartline telling him what coverages he is seeing from up in the Box. I can tell you what coverages you're going to see. Match 3, Match Quarters, Split Zones, and Man over. Texas runs really simple coverages, but good luck figuring what they're in presnap while trying to figure out if it's a simulated pressure or if they're coming or not, and if they are coming who's coming as a first time starter. Hartline can only help for 15 seconds then comms shut off. Quote

Buddy, you are reading way too much into things Ryan Day says before every big game Quote

Despite being the national champions, Texas is the #1 team coming to their house, and not many people think Ohio State will win. Quote
