Realist Horn Posted Wednesday at 06:06 PM Posted Wednesday at 06:06 PM A summary for those that don't want to watch the 3-5 minute clip: Bad Arch numbers: overall completion percentage - 55% (2nd worst in the SEC), but when you take away the throws behind the LOS it's 46% - Arch is affected by the speed of the game, and going against Ohio State week 1 may have him second guessing or seeing ghosts. - Young QBs struggle either because they are rushing plays, or they are too far behind. This is very important because Sark's offense depends on perfect timing so the routes are developed and the WRs have space. Klatt thinks Arch is "rushing" and ahead of the offense. He is looking to his first read before that route is ready, so he's looking off it, and then it comes open. When a QB rushes a throw, his feet aren't set and usually the ball nose dives in front of the target,...Klatt looked at the play action passes, and feels in those instances (maybe because it naturally slows Arch down), he's more in rhythm, and throws better passes. If Arch can just slow down, Klatt thinks the offense will take off. Regarding the injury, eh says when you rush the throw, your arm angle naturally gets 'flat' - and Arch's mechanics get out of whack. JMarquette Posted Wednesday at 06:11 PM Posted Wednesday at 06:11 PM I’m one of the few that is fine with Arch. I think the offense around him does him absolutely no favors, and he doesn’t trust it, which is a big factor in screwing him up. 5 Quote

Bunk Moreland Posted Wednesday at 06:28 PM Posted Wednesday at 06:28 PM Too many people are ready to throw Arch to the wolves. I still think he has an incredibly high ceiling and he will improve by leaps and bounds once the game slows down for him. It’s a long season. We don’t know what he’s going to look like at the end of it. But we should probably withhold our final verdict of Arch as a college player until the end of 2026, when he’s had two full years as the starter. I suspect this is all going to feel like a weird fever dream by then. 7 Quote

I knew it wasn’t going to look pretty. I based that opinion on how arch looked against UGA not mississippi state or UTSA because they both were cupcake games. 2 Quote

No lol no, I am not saying to bench him. But I thought we would see last year's Arch these last three games. I figured he would struggle at Ohio State though. Quote

No lol Sometimes you "bench" someone as motivation. It is in his head and the coaches need to figure out how to get it out of there. I got the yips throwing the ball as a position player a couple of times. I finally got pissed (with the coaches help) benched once(just the field) and was made to run the other time. He pissed me off enough I just got mad and let it fly. Hit my target perfectly and had no more issues in that position after that in either occasion. One instance was at 3rd, the other was in the OF. I remember like it was yesterday and it was 30+ years ago. I was short arming it with no confidence. It all started with one bad throw. Quote
AusMOJO Posted yesterday at 01:52 AM Posted yesterday at 01:52 AM I'm not off team Arch, but he definitely needs to figure it out and show it in a game. I'm of the belief he'll get it going and maybe that is when all the other experienced guys get back. But he needs to stop missing easy/simple passes/reads. That is what is killing us right now. I don't want to see him benched, I want to see him work through his issues but it's been the same thing for 3 straight games. We can blame the talent around him but we were told this is a talented roster, top 5 in the country. Not so sure I would agree about the offensive side of the ball. At least not so far. I'm hoping the O can turn it around but my optimism seems to squished every game. Quote

I'm not on team bench him, but he needs to put it together because he is bringing this offense down. Yes t here are other elements not doing their part, but he has been the most surprising and disappointing part of it so far. Quote

If you're rushing things and it's throwing off your mechanics, it doesn't matter who you're playing against. Bad mechanics mean bad throws. Against air. He just needs to slow it down and get his mind right. He has the tools to make the throws against good teams. He just needs to execute. Edited 6 hours ago by MikeHywk Quote
