Roy Hinojosa Posted 4 hours ago Posted 4 hours ago I didn't realize that OU had a bye this upcoming week. So, you're telling me they could have had a well rested Mateer ready to go after Red River if he sat? Imagine if they sat Mateer and went with Hawkins. If they lost, they could have pointed out that Texas only won because Mateer didn't play. Hell, that would have been the narrative the national media went with too. If they somehow won with Hawkins, they would have been in prime position and broken the back of this Texas team. Now after Red River, Texas provides a blueprint to beat OU, Mateer looks to have gotten beat up/exposed, and they are facing the toughest schedule in the country, arguably. Just a dumb decision all around. Glad it happened. 2 Quote
Alex Butler Posted 4 hours ago Posted 4 hours ago Yup, hubris at its finest. Someone f’ed up allowing that kid to play and it’s all in Burnt Vegetables. He’s the head coach gotta be smarter than that. 1 Quote
Hook em All Day Posted 4 hours ago Posted 4 hours ago They play at South Carolina; they don’t have a bye?? 1 Quote

I thought I heard someone from a podcast say they have a bye this week. The way south Carolina has been playing, might as well be 😂 Quote
Neil Leininger Posted 4 hours ago Posted 4 hours ago They had their 1st bye the same week we did. Then played Kent State with Hawkins. Quote
Oldest Horn Posted 3 hours ago Posted 3 hours ago I don’t doubt they played him because they felt he gave them their best shot at winning. No more, no less. 1 Quote
Bobby_Batronic Posted 3 hours ago Posted 3 hours ago I don’t see sacrificing the Texas game to have a better season outcome as an option in Norman. That’s not how that school or fanbase is wired. It wouldn’t go over particularly well in Austin either. Quote
