SWTHorn Posted 1 hour ago Posted 1 hour ago While I don't have a breakdown by sport, this is interesting. Below from my Austin chapter football referee newsletter just now. 🤘 Texas Leads the Country in High School Athletic Participation According to the National Federation of State High School Associations (NFHS) website, Texas has the largest number of high school sports participants with 364,020 girls and 515,383 boys for a combined total of 879,403 during the 2024-2025 school year. California holds down the second spot with a combined total of 852,575. Rounding up the top five are Ohio at 335,808, Pennsylvania at 333,123, and Illinois at 328,362. Quote
