  1. No, I don't think it was right but the other side of it is that if they want to be paid like professionals then getting cut and replaced will be a part of it too. And again, Nico will have some tough questions to answer when he's sitting in front of NFL personnel trying to explain why he up & left his team. It hits much differently when a QB does it as opposed to any other position. For example, all of the guys like Bear Alexander that shut it down after 4 games didn't get nearly as much attention as the UNLV QB that did the exact same thing.
  2. With a game-manager at QB they're probably in the same spot. That team lived and died with their running game and defense. I don't recall one game that swung their way because of Nico put the team on his back. Regardless, I don't have an issue with these guys making money but there is a right and wrong way to go about it and leaving your team high and dry when you are one of the leaders ain't it.
  3. The thing is he's already been making $2M per year and his production doesn't quite scream that he's underpaid. The bigger thing here is the position that he plays. A QB is supposed to be the leader of the franchise and the last thing they should be doing is walking out on their team. You don't think NFL GMs aren't going to have a huge issue with this and have questions?
  4. One of the issues going into last year was having too many guys with the score first mentality in Johnson, Mark, Pope and Kaluma but not having guys to set them up or guys to defer. Johnson was no doubt their best player but the removal of Johnson might allow us to see better versions of Mark & Pope that we weren't able to see this year.
  5. No. Tre's biggest weakness is his lack of explosiveness/athleticism.
  6. This was nearly 10 years ago so I might be off on one of them but we hit Blacks, Smittys (I think), Kreuz, and Chisholm Trail (they were by far the worst). We might've hit one more but I'm not sure. Each of them at least had one solid item except for CT but I wouldn't call any of them good. I had to make a pit stop at the Blacks in San Marcos just so I wouldn't feel like it was a completely wasted bbq experience.
  7. I should've mentioned that the Pinkertons that I tried and enjoyed was in SA. The candy-painted ribs aren't for everyone I guess but I really liked them.
  8. I feel like it's a Texas thing but all the Californian move-ins and out of town visitors don't get it.
  9. Have had Goldees twice and won't be back. Incredibly overrated and extremely salty both times. In DFW my favorites are Cattleack, Hutchins, Hurtados and Zavalas. Have heard great things about Panther City but haven't had them or Slow Bone yet. Also need to hit Terry Blacks in Dallas. Had Pecan Lodge as well and it was solid but nothing I needed to have again. Outside of DFW, Franklins is probably my #1 although La Barbecue, 2M (in San Antonio) and Pinkertons were really good. Really enjoyed Snows pre-Covid but can't do the 7 hour waits since covid. Valentina's used to also be borderline top 5 for me before they moved and started having all those issues. I'll also say my buddies and I used to make it a yearly deal to go to the state basketball tournament and hit all of the best bbq spots in the Austin area. One year we decided to do the Lockhart tour and it was easily the worst experience of the 10 years we did it.
  10. Sounds like he believes any of the guys from Indiana State were JAGs. Just find it ironic considering Conwell just came from there.
  11. That was RT. The Canadian connections dried up the moment RT left for Fresno State.
  12. Funny you say that while most are hoping Ryan Conwell follows Miller to Texas. You know Conwell was one of those Indiana State jags too? Was a starter alongside Larry, Kent & Cream Abdul Jabbar.
  13. Yeah, I'm not buying that. Dickinson was definitely not cheap and while Mayo may have given them a hometown discount I don't believe Griffin, Storr, Bidunga, etc did. KU went so crazy in the portal that guys they bought from the portal had to back out of commitments due to the roster being so loaded. Riley Kugel left Florida to join KU only to be recruited over before he even got on campus and wound up at Mississippi St instead. 5 star Guard LeBaron Philon was given the Cam Scott treatment because they had to go "all in" this year and he wound up at Bama. They've got National Gatorade player of the Year Darryn Peterson coming in next year and he's not coming for free either. These are extremely expensive rosters Bill Self is flopping with.
  14. Basketball and Football 2027 star Kavian Bryant.
  15. Plus I think it's as much about what UNC represents....the big school/blue blood that is "always" given preferential treatment even when they don't deserve it over the smaller schools. Xavier doesn't quite fit that narrative in the way that UNC does.
  16. Yikes!! And that one transfer out too would probably be a guy like Pope based on how his season went compared to expectations and that he doesn't really have any state of Texas ties compared to everyone else. I'm different than most on this board in that I give him a ton of credit for the Elite 8 run and feel the last two years was due to circumstances beyond his control. For instance, last year's team is MUCH better with AJ Johnson on the roster instead of Chris Johnson and Ron Holland instead of Ithiel Horton. I also feel this team looks much different if the money is spent to bring in JT Toppin. With that said, the trajectory of the program is not in a good place as there is not much coming back, no elite Tre Johnson-level guy coming in assuming they don't land an Ament or Peat, and with the administrations clear lack of confidence we all know there won't be any real money to attract guys from the portal to allow him to compete in this conference in a real way so we might as well move on. Also, can't get blown out 5+ times at home in a new stadium we're trying to keep filled up.
  17. VY and then depending on how you look at it, the Shipley brothers. With their quickness and precise route-running abilities I was surprised one didn't become the next Wes Welker or the first Cooper Kupp.
  18. Without any knowledge of this recruitment I'd put my money on UConn to walk away with her commitment/signature.
  19. Booker also needs to be more aggressive with the long range shot. She's a good shooter but they seem to be coached to look inside and only shoot 3s when completely wide open or up against the clock.
  20. JT Sanders from Napa?? Is Denton, TX the new Napa?
  21. Was surprised to not see Ole Miss on there either.
  22. The program grew to be very stale and what's not mentioned is how bad recruiting had fallen off. The state of Texas had some really loaded in-state classes especially in 2012, 2013 & 2014 as well as 2015 that he was mostly shut out from. We had players telling key recruits not to come to Texas. From that standpoint it was almost similar to Tom Herman's ending but Barnes was actually liked as a person and there wasn't the Eyes of Texas mess going on.
  23. I can only think it's the boost Gerry normally gives to Florida guys once they get to College and takeoff physically. Probably sees them as similar players now but Ffrench has more potential due to lack of facilities in Florida and feels Lockett is closer to a finished product for the same reason but that's just a guess.
