    Now back to the topic at the point guard position I am really hoping a Jordan Pope of Oregon St or even an Ajay Mitchell of UC-Santa Barbara (although he's showing up in the 2nd rounds of mock drafts).

    This is where I feel folks are complaining just to complain. The team has looked much better on offense under RT than they ever did under Beard, Smart or Barnes sans the DJ Augustin years. Last year's team got better offensively as the year went on. Where RT's teams have fallen off a little bit is on the defensive end. Barnes & Beard were compulsive about defense and rebounding to a degree that I don't know that RT is. Guys seem to play more free and less robotic under RT and look over their shoulders less but the defensive intensity isn't as consistent. You get some glimpses like the 1st half of the KSU game or the OU games or even the Tech game at Lubbock but the consistency is lacking imo.

    I agree on Hunter as I feel he's been our biggest issue this season. He's been such a net negative this season despite today and the Baylor home game. Don't even need a superstar, just a PG that will not turn the ball over and can consistently knock down an open shot would have helped this team tremendously over what we got from Hunter. Maybe its the optimist in me but I still think Mitchell can be a plus player. Having him and Weaver next year (and their athleticism on both ends) around Tre Johnson is something I can still get excited about.

    Class is definitely not filled up although they might not want to load up on hs prospects. We were long to be the leader of his recruitment but that seemed to have shifted once Beard was canned. I believe it was Kansas that finished 2nd in his recruitment as McNeeley even canceled his senior year official visit to Texas.

    I feel one of Texas' biggest issues is a lack of a true PG. I see that as an even bigger issue next year. Does Texas go looking for an experienced vet in the portal or do we try to get a Mikel Brown Jr to reclass?

    Houston has managed to be elite defensively with a small backcourt and a relatively small frontcourt to boot.
