  1. I was trying to point out that man and press man doesnt work well when you play that bdb defense. This blame does not fall squarely on Akina, it falls on PK and Orphey as well. 2nd, the guys they have recruited are man and press man types not necessarily zone, 3rd when you play 8-10 off you give up free first downs up and down the field=worn out d, dont care how deep your roatation is, 4th Sark is responsible for the whole team with an emphasis on offense, PK is responsible for the defense. Ive stated on here previously PK is a good coach, i do not think he is a championship level coach. Not saying he is the problem but he aint the answer either.
  2. Not so sure the issue is Akina. PK has always had that bend but dont break mentality. Difference is He had Makuba and Jahdae back there masking the shortcomings, and for some reason Taaffe has not been the same player this year, bad angles out of position etc.you are going to have a really hard time playing man and especially press man with that mentality and thats the players that have been recruited. Just saying the issue is much larger than Akina.
  3. Maybe thats why Texas has had a hard time finding the kind of coaches they need to get them over the hump...CDC does seem to have a better grasp on how and who than past ADs imo. Either way its gonna be a bumpy ride if there arent significant improvements through the end of this season and start of next. Just my opinion.
  4. I agree with alot of what you have to say. Sark is a great recruiter so the players and talent are there. The real question is Sark a championship coach?? Better than Herman absolutely, will he take you to the promise land.. .big question. Dont forget his nickname as a hc before Texas was 7 win Sark. On the other side of it ive said multiple time pk is a good coach not a great coach. Ref both of these mentioned can you honestly say either has put their players in the best positions to succeed. Id say absolutely not. Most players drafted the last 2 years combined....no ring in either the sec or nationally. Im not saying by any means sark should be fired, but a real conversation needs to happen. If Texas could get Cignetti away from Indiana for example, thats a move i would get behind in a heart beat.
  5. IMO the biggest issue Texas has is they do not have a physical RB and G/C/G. So my question is which players in either the portal or HS recruiting should Texas be Targeting? At RB Amari Latimer would be a good fit, currently committed to Wisconsin. Dont know about other positions.
  6. The bottom line is every season since Sark has arrived the discipline on this team has deteriorated. Evidence is penalties have gone up every season. Sark is made out to be a quarterback whisperer and offensive guru. Id argue he is neither. QE development wasnt very good, and Arch has been behind where he should be IMO. The offense itself is designed as finesse instead of physical. That leads to thinking Texas will not be a physical unit that can run between the tackles (soft oline non physical rbs). PK and secondary coaches are not on the same page. PK runs a soft defense ( bend dont break nonsense). This leaves his defense on the field for excessive amounts of time, which in turn means the Texas offense has less opportunity to make substantial drives. It also wears out the defensive players after a few games. Dbs are playing beyond the line of gain allowing a ton of first downs. These issues have been an issue for every game this season. UGA just highlighted them. I would also argue that the above has been an ongoing issue for multiple seasons. Teams take on the coaches persona to a degree and by that i would say there is little heart, little fight, and little want to. By no means advocating for wholesale change, however there does need to be some shakeup. Continuity is great if its working, its insane if you continue to have the same issues without addressing them.
  7. I whole heartedly agree. It seems that officiating across all conferences is going downhill fast
  8. Amari Lattimer for example from this upcoming class.
  9. Whoever Texas decides to go with at some point they need to find a battering ram that can get that 2-3 yards between the tackles that noone wants to get in front of.
  10. Would be interesting to see him on one end and simmons on the other. Dangerous.
  11. The biggest key to this entire game imo is getting off the field on 3rd downs and not allowing multiple extended drives. That means PK or Akina whichever is responsible for how the secondary marries the front line. If they are gonna be pressure heavy or blitz alot they Can Not play off of receivers so far that it allows easy completions at the line to gain. This is and continues to be my biggest concern followed by OLine consistency and improvement.
  12. 24-21 Texas. Sark has to prove he can beat the upper tier of the SEC. PK and Sark have to play aggressive for 4 quarters. Texas can not commit stupid unforced errors whether that be penalties or turnovers or busted coverages or dropped passes etc. Plainly they have to play to their ability which i would argue Texas is deeper than UGA at most spots, tho somewhat less seasoned.
  13. Defense Texas needs to keep wrs branch and young in check. No excuses for busts in the secondary. Horns dline have to contain the running game and keep stockton in the pocket. Stockton is much more dangerous if he has rpo especially outside the box. Last but not least UGA offense has very few turnovers this year. If Texas can force a couple in Athens it would do a ton to give an extra possesion or 2. Offense Texas offense has to sustain drives. If they can work the edges and minimize 3 and outs the UGA defense will wear down. That should make life much easier in the late 3rd and fourth quarter. The Horns can not abandon the run. Lastly Texas has to play disciplined, no stupid/untimely penalties or turnovers. I do believe this is the best opportunity for Texas to beat UGA in the last couple of years. The depth of Texas has gotten much better in Austin.
  14. Imo its not that Texas lost but more to the fact that we were absolutely dominated. Imo thats a really bad loss against a team that had Texas shown up for, even if they lost wouldnt be such a thorn in the side. Glad lessons have been learned.
  15. Texas is really deep imo especially on the defensive side of the ball, but they will be without standout lb ant hill next season. With Jonahs abilities could he be an option at olb and shake up the middle with one of the other guys playing olb this year? Texas is also really deep at WR and TE. Curious what the oline looks like for the 26 season and beyond.
  16. Texas needs to focus on Texas and tune out the noise. If the Horns handle their business they will be fine.
  17. Texas Defensive Secondary simply does not communicate well or force the issue with qbs by playing 8 to 12 yards off. When playing zone or partial zone they dont pass off wrs/tes off to the tertiary defender. The one that baffles me is against Vandy.Eli Stowers is head and shoulders above all of the other receivers and he ran free more times than i could count. You have to know especially in critical downs and circumstances that was where the ball was headed. I dont know if this is specifically a db coach issue or a coordinaor issue but it has to get fixed or UGA and Branch is gonna have a field day.
  18. God gives us perils to grow from to learn to lean on his strength snd grace to grow. Its great to hear that from the least likely to reach out to the most likely and everyone in between put sport/ school affiliation etc aside for a moment that was and still is simply greater. Prayers up.
  19. Texas has to get that secondary sorted out. Give way to much cushion. Maybe PK needs to dial up a little more pressure to shorten the amount of time those dbs have to cover as well. Hats off for the first 85% of the game.
  20. Out of curiosity....is it me or has the officiating in the SEC seemed more suspect than years past? It may be just coincidence but the questionable officiating seems to have gotten worse every year since the widespread availability of legalized gambling. This Texas game sure looked a lot like point shaving imo.
  21. Isn't the athletic the same garbage rag that put out the hit piece on Arch earlier?
  22. This was likely Mannings 2nd concussion in 2 seasons. I have concern for the young mans health long term. What makes him unique is his abilty to scramble and create with his legs but he has to learn to get down to keep his career going. Love the toughness but sometimes the greater part of the sport is the ability to make it through the season.
  23. Consistent and hopefully disciplined. No dumb penalties or turnovers.
  24. 33-13 Good Guys a special teams or defensive touchdown..
  25. How hard is it going to be for Texas to keep the same intensity they had at Joklahoma for the rest of this regular season? IMHO this will be a huge test for the leadership on this team to keep the focus where it needs to be. Week to week, game to game, play to play.
