IMHO this is an issue with multiple layers of issues. Peeling the onion back...lack of development particularly with GCG groups is first and foremost. Second is a finesse style of offense. Looks pretty but when it comes to Championship time you better be able to punch the opposing team in the mouth. Third is the acceptance of mediocrity along the OL. If it werent an acceptance of this...its really difficult to explain average or worse for several straight years. Fourth is are we recruiting the right guys. Not just big humans but does this dude provide the kind of punch we are looking for. And last but not least. Leadership is a real issue especially on the offensive side of the ball. Muschamp has done a really good job getting great production from multiple players through a myriad of injuries. Texas offense needs to either put up or shut up. Its pretty sad that the anchor of the team is a head coach dubbed an offensive genius with this poor of development at the QB position and inability to adjust and finish games through 4 quarters of quality ball. My point is that there os more than enough blame to pass around and have leftovers to dole out seconds. Texas has done a great job recruiting but havent turned those 5*s and high 4s into world beaters. Banks being the exception.

I would be very curious how many of those teams are in the same ballpark of Texas talent level?? The Bama victory and the OSU game this year are 2 that I distinctly remember but i dont recall any of the others

Ed doin the H Town shuffle. Dude is tough and loves the game. Good recruiter to tho Im not sure how some of these kids understands anything he says. He is definitely a menace to deal with in East Texas and Houston. Dont envy anyone that has to outsell him. Glad Texas has some coaches that can sell the Longhorns as well as he does the kittykats.

On the defensive side if they get a substantial lead id like to see LB and DB rotating to mix and match for both this season and next. Offensively Id be curious who theyd roll out at any combo of GC. Would be nice to get RB and WRs rotating in as well to tinker with different sets as well. As far as QB goes...it may be good to let Arch roll and build some confidence if the game is going that well as long as there arent any designed runs and there is an in depth convo for him to just throw it away. I know this season is getting a little long in the tooth for change but nothing motivates guys like seeing the next guy up outperforming the starter to get someones attention.

While Texas plays undisciplined at times...when there is a huge disparity it should be questioned. Watch a UGA game and see how many freebies Kirby gets. Gautreaux before and after games...

You would think winning 3 of 4 quarters would get the job done. Problem is Texas 1 and 2 quarters is better but the 3rd they are getting outplayed by a lot not a little bit. The 4th we are marginally better. With that being said I dont know if its so much adjustments as it is the Longhorns not establishing the LOS or the run or pass game. It almost looks like sleep walking and we will worry about it in 15 min when its close again. 4 quaters of play has been an issie for Texas for awhile. Last 5 years Texas has led wire to wire against P4 programs 7 times. That includes the B12 years. 60 games. I love my Longhorns but they lack the killer instinct that other dominant programs have. Would love to see this change.

UTSA laid out the map to pressure the Texas pass game and penatrate the running game. IMHO the sack numbers only paint a partial picture. (Per SI) The negative plays in general both running and passing is the bigger issue. You have to do something well and to this point in the season Texas has not established consistency in any aspect of offensive play. Texas offensive line is just that...offensive. if the GCG does not figure out how to communicate, switch, or pick up blitzes through the A and B gap this season will fall well short of expectations. DEs are going to have to make sure pressure comes outside in as Lacy has breakaway speed if he gets the edge. Also has great yac yards as well as elusive so Texas will have to gang tackle the ball. Lacy has also had a bit of trouble aecuring the ball so there needs to be a lot of punch rake.

Cignetti would be his best option or maybe USC.

No disrespect to those guys on the offensive line but a fork should be stuck in it now. I my humble opinion not 1 of those guys has done even an adequate job. Center gets pushed back regularly. Right guard who was recruited as a tackle has dead feet. Expensive tackle on the right side has failed on multiple occasion to seal the edge. Left guard has been only marginally better than the center and the left tackle play has dropped off in estimation 15-20%. These fellas got named the starter and just quit improving and effort has been nonexistent. The communication across all 5 plus TE has been poor at best. There are more than enough fingers to point. The last 2 years line play has been mediocre at best. So the question is did Kelvin Banks bouy that line. Great players raise all ships. Just my opinion is beyond not having an identity...the offense lacks any leadership. Arch walks around with his head down completely defeated, wr come off the field and you can see the frustration seething out, RB looking bewildered getting thumped behind the los. I dont know if its a leadership issue among the players or if its coaches? Either way what they are doing is falling drastically short of expectations. This great game has always been and will always be won or lost on the line of scrimmage. Lets hope with no more rope...maybe just maybe they will start climbing.

The heisman is more of a popularity competition vs thw best player in Collwge Football. Almost always an offensive player...almost always a qb. Rarely the best player. 2009 Suh was by far the best player. Finished 4th for example. Aaron Donald 2013. Will Anderson 2022. Not every year by any stretch but some years the best player dont play on the offensive side of the ball.

Kelvin came in to Texas as a 5* recruit and arguably the bear oline prospect in the country. While he did very well the question is did he exceed expectations or did he finish his college career where you thought it should be?? Same class Texas also got Campbell. Another 5* guy. So the question is did Kelvin finish where he should have or in spite of?

Sark with a shot across the bow. Wont be long until donors take the same kind of shot across Sarks bow as well.

Put in a bigger center and run the ball. Dont fumble. Eat the clock.

Theyve done well developing defensive players. Offensive players are another story. Guys like Bijan and Roschon succeeded in spite of as opposed because of this offensive style. Really the only offensive guy that i can think of that was developed on the off side is Gunner Helm. Most of the other draftees from the offense rarely lived up to what should have been the floor of potential.

The problem with Sarks offense is and has been soft. This is due to his finesse style in a LOS conference. If you are going to run a zone blocking scheme you CAN NOT afford to have any lineman that has slow feet. You have to beat opponents to a spot, not necessarily to move anyone but to shield lanes both in the run and pass game. Further because generally those lineman are a bit smaller and quicker passing downs need to develop relatively quickly. You cant sit in the pocket for 4 or 5 seconds. Big arm long developing plays will not work against equally talented teams. Physics simply do not work. Not all but most big lineman are generally slower afoot but can keep a pocket cleaner for pass and work much better for power run games. There are very few offensive linemen that are both large and quick. Kelvin Banks is the only one I can recall in the Sark era that fits that mold. This offense does not continuously do either of these well. Smallish center that gets pushed backwards regularly...GCG continuously late to spots. This doesn't even take into account a QB that seems utterly lost. A playcaller that limits audibles instead of letting him get the offense into better plays. This team was constructed with this staff and have failed to develop the talent they recruited. There is definitely a lot of flies in the ointment. Figure out what kind of offense you want to run and recruit guys that fit that regardless of the stars attached to their name.

Is there an issue with development on the offensive side of the ball. Quinn and Arch were tabbed as the best recruit in the nation for their respective class. Both to this point have not gotten to or exceeded expectations. Outside of the tackles there has not been great strides there either...Banks has done ok in the TE department but special teams since Joe DeCamilis has been suspect at best. Jury still out on Juluke as 1 year just doesnt have enough data points. WRs are the lone bright spot but its hard to shine when the ball doesnt arrive in a catchable location. Additionally on the offensive side Texas has come out relatively flat. OU UFx2. Last but not least there are so many Mental Errors, penalties/turbovers etc it makes me question the leadership top down for this program. Doesnt appear to have much discipline. Is this a wholesale problem, subpar coaching, players not engaged? ETC. What would be the OTF fix or is it just a patience issue and to much expectation? Thanks fellas for all you do
