  1. I told a Longhorn friend of mine about this. He said that he and his wife are going to Italy and that he will teach the Italians how Texans say hello. 🤣
  2. Nice story by those Texans in Malta. I hope some Aggies show up to that restaurant.
  3. Found this at the Baseball website. They must have posted it earlier today. Longhorns score seven unanswered runs to cruise past Red Raiders, 9-3 ROUND ROCK, Texas — The Texas Longhorns opened their fall slate with a 9-3 exhibition win over Texas Tech in a 12-inning contest at Dell Diamond on Saturday afternoon. Texas mounted six unanswered tallies across the fifth and sixth, highlighted by a pair of two-run doubles from Aiden Robbins. Robbins also kickstarted the offensive outburst with a run-scoring single in the first, finishing 3-for-4 with five RBI. Following a standout freshman campaign, Adrian Rodriguez picked up where he left off, reaching safely four times. Rodriguez tallied three hits and plated two runs across the nearly five-hour affair. With the Longhorns and Red Raiders tied in the fifth, Rodriguez delivered a go-ahead RBI single. Two batters later, Robbins notched a two-run extra-base hit to extend the lead to 5-2. The next inning, Texas padded its advantage thanks to a bases-loaded walk and another two-RBI double from Robbins. The six-run cushion was more than enough for the Longhorns' pitching staff, which held the visitors to only three runs on seven hits. After yielding two tallies in the third, Texas held Texas Tech scoreless over the next eight frames, including four straight hitless innings. Freshmen Brett Crossland, Brody Walls, Sam Cozart and Brady Westphal combined for five strikeouts over that stretch. Overall, the Longhorns used 13 different hurlers, with the first 11 arms all tossing one frame apiece, as scheduled. Left-hander Cal Higgins logged the win, punching out a pair in a shutdown fifth. Up next, Texas returns home to host Lamar on Oct. 3. First pitch is set for 6:30 p.m. at UFCU Disch-Falk Field.
  4. Blake responded to my question in Coffee and Football that they were working on something. Someone posted on Twitter that the game was 9-3. Supposedly no stats were kept, but someone posted updates on Twitter during the game. It appears that the new guy from the Northeast that batted over 400 last year and won the batting title at Cape Cod this summer had three hits (2 doubles) and 5 RBIs (Aiden Robbins). A lot of guys pitched and most did really well.
  5. Pretty funny.
  6. How about a baseball update?
  7. Just up from Monterey and S.F. is Napa Valley and Sonoma Valley, the best wine country in the country in country. There are hundreds of vineyards, some with fantastic wines, and it is a great area to visit. Good food everywhere, but in general it will be a lot healthier than what we get in the south, particularly if you are in Cajun country as your name might imply. Good food just different. If you are wine drinkers try to get there, but if you can't get up there, there are still good ones in a couple of areas south going back toward L.A. Monterey and Carmel are great, but with Clint Eastwood's age you won't see him around. The drive along PCH is great and in fact from northern Oregon to S.F. that stretch is incredible. I have not been to L.A. in decades so I can't really provide any insight there. The last 30 years my trips have all been to northern cali or to southern cali south of L.A.
  8. I did not think it would be that quick, but it was probably a mercy killing. Good old Petrino back.
  9. That was a shocker to me. I worked at UVA for about 15 years and could never get behind that team. Not many Longhorns or Longhorns fans there. I did follow the baseball team some because they were good. Interestingly, like everywhere else there were some Dallas fans, though most were Redskins/Commander fans.
  10. Good one. Love SEC Shorts.
  11. Be forewarned that you drive on the left side of the road in a right hand drive car there. Takes a bit to get used to it. We had an automatic but it would have been really frustrating to have gotten a stick and having to shift with my left hand. on top of that. Also, the country roads are often really only one lane with occasional small pullouts to let oncoming traffic through. Lots of traffic circles/roundabouts there too and that takes a bit getting use to. We did not use a car in Edinburgh, but did when we took of the highlands and the islands. There are some really nice scenic drives in Scotland. We drove the length of Loch Ness on the way to Inverness and were not lucky enough to see Nessie. 😀
  12. I don’t recall off hand all of the hotels in the places we stayed, but the George Hotel in Edinburgh was very very nice.
  13. go up to the highlands and visit scotch distilleries. visit Loch Ness and stay in Inverness. Edinburgh is a great place with lots to do. skip the haggis. i tried it prepared 2 ways and both ways were bad. bring a rain jacket.
  14. Thanks. I was surprised to see five years of playing time.
  15. You mean that they can play all 5 years or have 5 years to play 4?
  16. Always a few good sections in these shorts. I like it better when the Aggies show up as yellow leaders in overalls. Too funny.
  17. Those 3 guys were on their backs. CJ posted two short clips and one of them included that play. All three were moving left and someone got hit or tripped and all 3 went down like dominoes.
  18. Arch needs his money back.
  19. Yes, the offense is sloppy and unimaginative, dlr what appears to be several reasons.
  20. The hosts should take them to Pinkerton's on the way in. That alone may make sure they stay committed.
  21. I hope Bobby and Gerry enjoyed their chicken fried steak, frito pie, or whatever they had for lunch at Hays City Store.
  22. Hays City Store is a good place. They have good food and also have a big outdoor space. If you haven't been there in a while you will notice that new food and bar places have opened up around the traffic circle. The restaurant, Whiskey Ridge, specializes in seafood and local food and has a really nice covered outdoor area. The new bar there, Mean Eyed Cat, resembles an old beer joint or honky tonk in a way. I have been there for a beer once, but much prefer Hays City Store and Whiskey Ridge if in that area.
  23. There is a special breaking news video that Bobby, Gerry, and CJ posted a little while ago about the imminent return of Jonah Williams and it includes a discussion of the Wardell Mack situation.
  24. Also pretty late for a school night, regardless of whether he was DWI or DUI.
