  1. And Ballo puts the ball on the floor in the paint in traffic. Bad idea. Bad result. Purdue break to get the foul and go up 3.
  2. Another questionable call here against IU. IU guard trying to drive. Smith hooks arms with him. They call the foul on the Purdue guard. Reviewed it to see if Purdue guard was guilty of a f1. Hell, he wasn't guilty of anything, but they couldn't review that part. IU up 70-69 with 2:43 left. IU did well to come back after the early Purdue run in the second half. I still don't think IU will win or make the tournament, but it has generally played will off the last 10 minutes. Three point play for Purdue makes it 72-70. IU ball. Drive. Foul called. Ft coming. Going down to the wire.
  3. 12:21 left, Purdue up 7. Next IU foul puts Purdue in the bonus.
  4. Indiana got out to a 7 point lead in the first half and took a 4 point lead to the lockers. Purdue scored the first 7 of the second half, helped by IU being whistled 3 times in the first 1:03, at least one of which was highly questionable. Make that 4 fouls in 1:43. IU has missed an ft, shot off the side of the backboard, and lost a rebound on the defensive end after having two guys get their hands on it. Now 48-42 Purdue and the crowd is electrified. The first time Bob asked about Indiana doing anything this year, I asked if firing the coach counts. Well, does it?
  5. Indiana @ Purdue is the only game of real consequence tonight. I mean, Butler has to win 75% of its remaining games to have a shot, Georgetown needs to win about 70%, and Dayton needs to damn near win out, so I'm not getting the least bit excited about their games tonight. Tonight's game is the midpoint of an 11 game run of q1 games for Indiana. It is 1-4 so far in that stretch. And this is the harder part of that stretch. Five of the six games left in the stretch are against teams in the NET top 20.
  6. Self-deprecating humor is sometimes the best humor. The only trick is to not take it personally.
  7. Nebraska Illinois go into OT. Nebraska had committed only 4 fouls, I mean had been called for only 4 fouls, before Illinois's final possesssion with 10 seconds to go. They committed two more to burn the clock. Illinois managed only a bad three and missed it.
  8. Illinois on a run with two transition baskets to cut it to 60-58 with 7:35 to go. Right after announcers bragged on NU preventing Illinois from scoring in transition. I don't usually declare late January games as must wins, but if NU doesn't pull this one out, then I think its season is done. Or doomed to NIT bid. NU got a score and a stop. And then they give up a transition layup. Back to a two point game.
  9. This thread was about Texas Longhorn basketball once. I hope the next thread about Longhorn basketball stays on the subject. Or, for another poster's benefit--stays the subject at?
  10. I'm not getting on the plane. I'm getting IN the plane.
  11. Losing Tucker DeVries was a big blow. Small has very little help on offense.
  12. tOSU pasted PSU. Illinois down 40-31 at the half. Remember the Hoiberg teams at ISU that tried to get a shot up within 6 seconds of taking possession? Illinois plays that way this year, but it started 1/14 bta. In another game of import, NMSU broke its three game losing streak by winning at Middle Tennessee. It should now climb back into the top 160, moving that game back into q3. For now, anyway.
  13. "Where's the library at?' "Sir, at Harvard, we do not end a statement or an interrogatory with a preposition." "Ok, where's the library at, a**hole?"
  14. "She's rubbing my body While taking my dough. Massage Parlor Blues. Massage Parlor Blues. Give her a tip. See what she'll do." "Massage Parlor Blues" by the Uranium Savages. Entirely different sort of facility, but for some reason that song came to mind.
  15. I hope the mods here chase the story a bit and flesh it out for us.
  16. Boise State stayed alive with a 66-56 home win over Nevada. Three B1G games of interest tonight tOSU (28) @ PSU (48) PSU is getting desperate for some good wins. NET is still fairly strong, but 1-7 in q1 isn't helping. No good OOC wins and maybe the weakest conference schedule in the Big Ten (drew extra games against Rutgers, Minnesota, and Indiana). Might need to get to .500 in the conference or get some wins in the conference tournament. Mike Rhoades may prove to be a pretty good hire there. Illinois (10) @ Nebraska (62) Another desperate team at home. Nebraska on 6 game losing streak including two 30+ point blowouts and two home games against teams that won't make the field. Oregon (27) @ UCLA (33) One of UCLA's best wins this year was @ Oregon, one of Oregon's two q2 losses. The other was in its last game (@ Minnesota). UCLA on a 4 game winning streak.
  17. I saw that one of the bracketebazookies actually promoted Texas from a 10 to a 9 seed after last night.
  18. We have 10 games left in the regular season. Pomeroy likes us slightly better now than he did this morning. He either favors us or has us in a one possession game in 9 of our remaining 10 games. We have Kaluma back. That's really big for us, even if he brain farted a couple of possessions tonight. I'm not a Beterriliever. OK, that didn't work even remotely as a joke, but the point remains that this team can go either way. Get it to full strength, and maybe we have something. Maybe we don't. I'm going to root for wins.
  19. Beard was 0-5 on the road against ranked teams in his tenure here. Just saying.
  20. WVU lost by 14 at home. To Houston, so no shame there, but WVU is sinking fast. Santa Clara woke up to lose by only 13. St. Mary's will in all likelihood make the tournament and face an early exit again. It's what it does. I didn't include this game, but Rutgers won @ Northwestern. Northwestern, meet fork, Creighton beat Xavier by 9. Xavier will need to find some quality wins. UNT survived a close game. It if keeps playing close games, then it is bound to lose one or two along the way, and it can't afford that. SMU won against a bad Cal team. Still not a believer.
  21. Kent had 3 offensive rebounds in the first half. And he did nothing else the entire game. Sometimes when I rag on a player, he plays well. Kent, you have been nearly worthless this year. So there is your prompt to kick some a** from here on out.
  22. I don't quite understand why Pryor played so little in the second half. He had a very good game. I think I understand wanting to believe in Mark because he had the big plays at the end of the game against A&M, but Pryor is showing us a lot of good minutes.
  23. Tough loss on the road to a ranked team. We're still on a track to make the tournament. We had a shot to tie, but missed it. We had the guy with a chance for a putback in our previous possession, but there was unlucky carom. Tough loss. I'm sure there are several of our fans who will masturbate to the fact that we lost, but I'm not one of them. I'm not going to say we would have won with Weaver available, but Pope was terrible tonight. We rebounded well, but we lost the turnover battle big time. Not a great team, but a team that has been scrapping for wins and nearly won a game on the road that Pomeroy gave it a 28% to win. Let's beat LSU and get a win in our home stand against Kentucky and Alabama.
