  1. I'm not. From the beginning, I said I think Texas will win. I just think a lot of people here are being way too dismissive of a good team.
  2. Laugh all you want. A&M lost to Auburn and by 24 to South Carolina. Michigan lost to 6-6 UDub. Florida lost to Miami by 24. Vandy lost to Georgia State. Arkansas lost to a team that went winless in the Big 12. Kentucky lost by loads to Louisville. OU lost to LSU by 20, was in a 2 point game with Houston for nearly the whole second half, and lost at home to South Carolina by 26. I defy you to find a credible ranking system (poll, computer, what have you, other than the suspect ESPN "Power Index") that has any of our opponents this season other than Georgia ranked above Arizona State. They unanimously have ASU in the top 15, and most have ASU higher than that. I'm talking Sagarin, Massey, Colley, Congrove, Anderson&Hester computer rankings as well as CFP, AP, and Coaches Polls.
  3. tOSU was definitely more talented than Michigan this year, but are you really going to make a big distinction between teams ranked 2 and 3 going into the game in the two years before this one? And you are now arguing that a coach who has never finished outside the top ten should be fired because he chose the wrong grad transfer qb? You guys are really reaching here.
  4. I think we will beat ASU, but ASU is better than anyone we have beaten this year, and it is on a roll right now.
  5. I'm sure they feel like crap about it, but do the inmates run the asylum in Columbus? You can't tell me that a home win over Tennessee and a neutral site quarterfinal final win over Oregon won't secure Day's job another season, even if he loses in the semifinals or the finals. Remember, the OP here said Day has to win the natty this year by running the table in the cfp to save his job. That is nuts. You have to be insane to fire a coach who has finished in the top ten seven straight seasons, which will be the result if tOSU wins a single game in the playoffs this year.
  6. It was a combination only when the back to back sucky seasons made it a combination. Cooper finished his career as the tOSU head coach with a 2-10-1 record against Michigan. And they didn't can his ass until he had back to back 6-6 and 8-4 seasons. Firing Day for finishing in the top ten every year but losing to Michigan for 4 straight years would be the height of stupidity.
  7. And you're still ignoring the fact that Cooper didn't get fired for going 6 years without beating Michigan. He got fired for having back to back sucky seasons. Any AD who is more interested in winning a rivalry game than in the strength of the program doesn't get the big picture and should be s***canned himself.
  8. Yeah, whatever. Did Mack Brown get canned for losing to OU 5 straight years? Did Cooper get fired for his 0-5-1 stretch? No, he got fired a few years later, after tOSU managed a 14-10 record and finished unranked over two seasons. Day might not have the fanbase on his side, but it is ridiculous to say he has to win the natty or he's gone.
  9. I can't believe any fanbase is so insane that it will require a coach who never lost more than 2 games and never finished outside the top ten to win four playoff games to keep his job.
  10. If it is only abouts wins and losses, then Oregon would be crowned champ and we would skip the playoffs. If is only about wins and losses and conference championships, then Oregon and BSU or ND get a bye while Georgia, ASU, Clemson, and ND or BSU play for spots in the semis. Occasionally teams with a gaudy record against inferior competition play well in cfp games. Usually they don't. I don't think Alabama should have been passed over because of 3 losses in the SEC. I think it should have been passed over because it lost by 21 to OU. But I suspect SMU would have played near .500 with an average schedule in the SEC.
  11. This thread is ridiculous for positing the notion that we can't beat a particular someone so we must needs avoid having to play them again, and if we do, then we will roll. We're supposed to keep an idea that it is just one team that can beat us, and we can steamroll everyone else? Never mind the fact the team the clubbed us once at our place and beat us again with their starting qb out was beaten by two other teams? Once by a significant margin? But somehow we are supposed to believe we could lose to one team only, and if we avoid that team, then we are golden? Never mind how we managed only a 3 point win over 6-6 Vandy. Never mind how we were in a one score game in the second half against 6-6 Arky. Never mind how we tried to piss the game away against A&M in the second half. Spock was right. Logic is a little tweeting bird chirping in a meadow. Logic is a wreath of pretty flowers which smell bad. At least it is around here. We played two games against playoff caliber teams. We lost both. The idea that we can waltz through the rest without worry is stupid. We have a really, really good team, but let's not pretend we are a sure thing against all teams but one. We're not. We don't need to worry about our seed and who we draw in our bracket. We need to simply play better.
  12. At what point do we start referring to the P2 and the Group of 7?
  13. If the writer is saying Texas won because it supposedly threw a lot of money at a kid that only got a tailored suit with school colored trim from Georgia, then I can only say -- Smart kid.
  14. Match. Back to back hitting errors by Batenhorst, who finished hitting .149. Wenaas finished with 12 kills and 0 errors in 18 swings. Phenomenal.
  15. Jenna Wenaas EN FUEGO! 11 kills and 0 hitting errors in 17 swings and 5 aces, if the NCAA website has the stats right for the game.
  16. I hope we see the same Ally Batenhorst we saw in the finals last year. She managed only 2 kills, made 5 hitting errors, hit -.214, and committed 3 return errors.
  17. Here's betting the same writer gushed over UGa's coaching staff/atmosphere/players making the difference when UGa signed each of the 7 out of state five stars it landed the last two seasons.
  18. Nitpicking here, but you should amend the OP to read per 247 composite rankings. 247 itself has a KSU recruit as its last 5 star. But the point is valid. Like the Big 12 and the ACC feared, they are now totally left behind.
  19. And had an 8-0 run early in the third.
  20. USC made short work of UT-Arlington, so I guess we won't have to worry about a late start.
  21. And that is just the completed part of our OOC schedule. Once we finish our OOC schedule, we will probably drop into the mid 340s.
  22. Early expectations were to earn a 1 seed and compete for their third straight title. Present expectations are to play above seed and compete for their third straight title.
  23. Yeah, I can't believe how winning a road game while being down a top player against a P5 team that could make the tournament is supposed to be an indictment of a coach.
  24. Four of the five unbeaten teams in the top 5 in the polls lost today or yesterday. Tennessee moves up to #1. Remember the last time Barnes got to #1? I do.
