    Looking like the 1-2-3-4 seeds are out before the semifinals, a bit of a surprise at least for # 1 and # 2 And the 5-6-7-8 seeds are in (unless Notre Dame craps the bed). Hmm, wonder if the extra time off was a factor? I guess Boise and ASU are understandable - both big underdogs - and Georgia just lost their QB and punter in the SEC championship game - and Oregon had a bad matchup, against an angry OSU team that Oregon barely beat at home. Still, kind of weird.

    Why? Because his A&M team just lost to App State and among other things he criticized Jimbo's offense. So he livestreamed himself speeding in a parking garage. And yeah, he didn't hit 120 but it wasn't for lack of trying.

    Yeah that was a terrible move on his part, the difference between 29-10 and 30-10. Unforgivable. I'm thinking the Chiefs will probably cut him from the roster for that before the playoffs begin.

    It's because right now odds makers have to predict a trifecta - three winning games - and Texas' first game is by far the easiest (per odds). Once we get down to four teams then Texas will probably have 2nd or 3rd best odds. Mathematical example with made up % of winning - assume Texas has 70% odds against ASU, 45% against OSU/Oregon winner, 50% against say Notre Dame or Georgia. Multiply those out and .7 * .45 * .5 = 15.75% chance. Assume OSU v Oregon is 50/50, winner is 55% fav against UT, final is 50-50 (I'm making these up for an example but you get the point), so .5 * .55 * .5 = 13.75%. So Texas has better odds among 8 teams needing to win 3 games but would have lower odds once it gets to four teams and 2 games. Basically because we have the easiest path in the first game we have better odds to win 3 times, but after odds are recalculated for four teams then the winner of OSU/UO game has .55 * .5 odds (27.5%) and our odds drop to 22.5% using these numbers.

    "Independence CC" you say? Thanks to the Albuquerque tinkler Diego Pavia's recent win in his eligibility lawsuit against the NCAA the time spent playing JUCO no longer counts against your eligibility. So maybe two more years eligibility for M'Ba? That would be nice.

    Two penalties for 10 yards in the Clemson game jumped out at me. None of the holding calls or foolish pre-snap penalties that seemed to set us back on offense. Weren't we one of the most penalized teams before this game? Keep it clean and we are hard to beat.

    The talent gap is just so wide, I mean ASU was picked to finish last in the mighty Big 12 in the preseason. I live near Tempe and it's a big deal whenever they sign even a 4* recruit. Here are the numbers for the current rosters (from the 247 College Football Team Talent Composite) 11 5*, 50 4*, 19 3* Texas (ranked # 4 in raw talent behind Bama, Georgia, Ohio State) 0 5*, 18 4*, 61 3* Arizona State (ranked # 30 just behind UCLA) Clemson, the team we just beat by 14, had the fifth most talent (7 5*, 45 4*) Things more likely to happen? The woman at the gym who looks like a cross between a young Gisele Bundchen and a younger Emilia Clarke will ask me out for a protein smoothie after my workout today (let an old man dream will ya).

    The odds chart below is from BetMGM - the top 6 (everyone but ASU and Boise State) are pretty close but Texas is currently the slight favorite. I personally think Georgia is ranked too low but I guess losing your starting QB is reason enough for the smart money to shy away. Some odd stuff - Oregon is second favorite but is a slight underdog against OSU. Go figure ...

    He probably wanted to stay at Duke. Read the section of the article on the timing of him leaving. "The 6-foot-5, 230-pound redshirt sophomore entered the transfer portal on Dec. 10 after Duke began recruiting Tulane transfer Darian Mensah, the No. 2 quarterback in ESPN's transfer rankings. Mensah committed to the Blue Devils on Dec. 11." The portal door swings both ways.
