1. Seemed to me he got gun shy after the first Bama game when Dallas Turner did him wrong, and later after the Houston hits and the oblique issues. Never quite the same guy. I definitely wouldn't agree with "It's like the best parts of his game got coached out of him". More like "got knocked out of him by the hits he took"
2. Brock Purdy, act II ? I mean I agree with you that guys are piling on Quinn right now, for various reasons. But he was pretty bad for the Dolphins ... both things can be true. I'm not a Quinn basher myself, but there's truth in much of the criticism.
3. If your sister had gone to Notre Dame and your brother to Oklahoma your family tree would include pretty much every team we hate! Welcome anyway ... I would wish the Raiders luck but my heart isn't in it after the way Coach McGuire bad mouthed us as we were leaving the Big 12. Go Sun Devils! I'll leave you with this image of one of our incoming EDGE recruits matched up with Tech's $5,100,000 5* LT ... the ones with Kreul and Ford are even worse.
4. Highly confident in our defense. All three levels look solid, this could be the best D we've seen in decades at Texas. Hill is possibly the best LB in the nation and a returning All American. Taafe (S) made a few 2nd and 3rd team All American lists last year. Colin Simmons (EDGE) is probably the best player on the team, projected a top 5 NFL pick in 2 years. Lot of depth in the interior DL, maybe six deep right now. Plenty of talented young guys at most positions. We like our D a lot. On offense the WRs should be good (not as good as yours but good) but a bit thin on depth. TE - you got the # 1 transfer TE but we got the # 2 guy and think he'll catch a lot of balls. Behind him we lack experience but supposedly have talent. RB - returning 1,000 yard rusher with Wisner and a couple of talented backups, but no one knows when Baxter will be fully healthy. QB - we feel comfortable that Arch will play better than Sayin in this game, though the Heisman talk seems crazy right now. The biggest Q to me is the OL, after losing four starters. We'll see ... If our D is suffocating and our O doesn't make too many glaring mistakes we feel we can win, especially if we get a lead early and can unleash the pass rush. For you to win I think our OL needs to get confused or overrun at times and our young QB makes a key mistake or two (watch the first Georgia game for the nightmare scenario). Should be a great game and a key season indicator for both programs.
5. For those of us who don't have an hour to watch, can someone summarize the predictions our boys made? What were the most surprising? The consensus? Thanks ...
6. LSU, SMU and South Carolina look like the best teams Clemson plays and they get the first two at home. ESPN has them ranked # 40 in SOS right now so they could go 13-0 plus an easy first round game, but those last two wins to reach 16 they'll surely be playing really good teams I don't buy it
7. And he's still only 19 years old!
8. But he did look reasonably cool and collected in his mugshot
9. Bosworth and Mayfield for me too ... no one else comes close (Baker in scramble mode)
10. Possibly he's just signaling to other programs that his recruitment is wide open, that he's not waiting around for Texas any longer. Sounds like he jumped the gun with us, confusing an "offer" with a "committable offer", and perhaps he quit taking calls from other schools. (Yeah I know, a lot of speculation on my part in those two sentences ...) Looks like a Big 12 guy to me, or maybe one of the California ACC schools ... I wish him well.
11. 4,000 ? Why stop there? What are the chances Arch reaches 5,000+ yards? Finebaum the Great has issued an Executive Order proclaiming Arch the "best college QB since Tim Tebow!" so 5,672 should be possible. The best QB I've seen since Tebow was this guy - what are the odds Arch has a better season than Joe Burrow in 2019? I especially like the 60-6 TD/INT ratio and the 76.3 completion percentage.
12. Couldn't we play 17 games, like we almost did last year? 12 regular season + 1 conference championship game ... if we are outside the top 4, say 5-12 like last year, we could play 4 more games to reach the championship round. Right? Or did I miss something?
13. As long as Paul Finebaum doesn't go out on a limb with some outrageous clickbait the world will keep spinning ... Oh wait ...
14. Competition is with Oregon funded by Phil Knight, and Michigan supported by Larry Ellison, the 2nd richest man in the world. Gonna need a semi to carry enough bags for Texas. Here's a pic of Larry's 288 ft yacht - in the world of "the haves and the have yachts" Larry has got a big yacht
15. This is a good article on this topic (link at bottom, free) - the writer predicted this all along and seems certain the next weakened attempts at controlling the collectives will also fail -
Oh, sure, the CSC will supposedly be able to deny these booster deals if they don’t fall within a specific range of fair market value – whatever that means. And guess what, they’re going to get sued for that too. Because who can really determine what fair market value is for an NIL deal from a collective? Unlike, say, a traditional ad campaign, collectives only exist within the realm of college sports. The only established value is what someone’s willing to pay. So good luck to all of the conference officials trying to argue that one at their next court date.
"Attempts to curb payments to college athletes keep failing. There's only one way forward."
16. So they spent years litigating this, paying an estimated $750,000,000 in lawyer fees, and the CSC / NIL Go part of the settlement lasted 22 days. Told ya this would get overturned (or modified enough to be emasculated) with the first wave of Collective lawsuits. Good day for the rich schools with fat cat alumni, like Texas.
17. Surprised they published names of 17 year olds ... in Arizona I think you have to be 18 before they name you in an article like this. Puts a new spin on the phrase "we dodged a bullet" missing on this kid.
18. No problem - I just changed mine to a bear photo I took while fishing in Alaska at Brooks Camp in Katmai, just to see how it works (the bear came to within 15 feet before I convinced him to swerve). Had to resize because the file was too big, then was pleasantly surprised you have a cropping box, which I wasn't expected. I see you got a new one too 🙂
19. Haven't actually done it but I clicked on my user name icon and in the bottom left corner of my 'avatar' (just the default letter A) there's an icon for "Profile Photo" (see first image below). Click "Profile Photo" and it gives you the option to download a file off your disk or to drag/drop a file (see 2nd image below). Size max is 0.49 MB per the screen grab. Hope this helps!
20. 11 press in attendance, 8-4 posts complaining on TexAgs Though TexAgs posters were positively giddy about the War Hymn being played during Sark's walk-up - "yeah, we trolled them 'sips"
