  1. Might be on to something there, as it's a state job, I believe it has to be posted and the candidate has to apply - formalities.
  2. There's not a lack of parental star power at games, now instead always showing Jermaine O'Neal the ESPN cameras can focus on Marcus Spears. It was so bad that Asjia O'Neal said in her farewell post that her mom wanted to remind everyone she's also in attendance at the games.
  3. I see they left out draft picks. Lesson #1 I learned in statistics class - you can get the data to tell any story you want, it's all a matter of when you slice it and how you decide to calculate it.
  4. The volleyball team is ridiculously stacked. The hard part for Coach Elliott is figuring out how to keep everyone happy. There's only 6 people that can play at any given time. The past couple of seasons and the roster as it currently stands, the 2nd (and maybe 3rd) string could easily start for almost any team outside of maybe a few schools like Nebraska. I read on the volleyball board yesterday, Texas' commitments are #1 player and hitter in the country, #1 setter (basically the QB) in the country, and a top 5 Libero.
  5. Leinart has a great sense of humor. He's not afraid to talk about that game and what happened, doesn't make excuses or what ifs. I respect him for that.
  6. I'm too lazy to actually research it, but I'm fairly certain that ou's last 3 championships (out of the 4 straight) their ace has come through the portal and was not recruited out of high school. I think the 1st one was from a direct recruit.
  7. I read some random article on Auburn during one of my can't sleep scrolling sessions, can't remember where but that's not relevant. It said they have one of the best big 3 greatest player representations - Football - Bo Jackson, Baseball - Frank Thomas, Basketball - Charles Barkley. Being the homer I am, I was thinking Texas has just as good if not better and comparatively would be interested in how that fares against other universities. My list for Texas would be: Football - Earl Campbell, Baseball - Roger Clemens, Basketball - Kevin Durant
  8. It's a massive advantage to recruiting and play that they have with the championship always being played in their city. Anyone who says otherwise is in denial. While other team fans could travel well, it's an easy numbers advantage when the cost to your fans is probably only marginally higher than a regular season game with no travel costs involved. It's guaranteed home field advantage, something I believe Nebraska volleyball enjoyed for a while until the NCAA decided to move the championship around, but even then it's rotated between a very small number of locations so they still enjoy it.
  9. I wouldn't say it's beta, but I totally agree with the take that it's a chance to rest your starters and heal up to gear up for the post season, especially with the new playoff format and more games. It also gives your subs a chance to get good playing time later in the season when they've developed over the season. Also, as a fan, I enjoy seeing Texas dominate just as much as I enjoy a competitive win.
  10. Ah, thanks, I misremembered. Kavan had good games against Stanford, so I could see why coach went with her feeling she had the hot hand. Likely he goes with Morgan today and if there's a game 3 who knows. Don't know what's happened to Simpson's pitching, she seems to have regressed every year since her freshman campaign. She has a good variety of pitches when they are on.
  11. Prob went with Kavan cause ou batters hadn't faced her yet this season. Really more an issue with the bats, they tend to go ice cold. Only the Florida game was a breakout.
  12. In today's portal and NIL world, the right coach can turn things around fairly quickly
  13. CDC is a master at making all the things happen behind the scenes before he shows his hand. It's like he's playing chess, he's got the next 10 moves already lined up before me actually makes a move. When it's time for him to make a change on the baseball coach. I'm fairly confident it will be swift and a replacement announcement within days if not hours.
  14. I wouldn't think he'd have much leverage to demand an extension unless the team makes it to Omaha at the least.
  15. I'm a graduate of Alief Hastings (not naming the year) but hope he ends up with the good guys.
  16. The big difference between Sark's tenure so far is the guys that stayed with the program that weren't "stars" before were able to make it to the NFL and be drafted higher than they projected. Like Byron Murphy, T'vondre Sweat, Christian Jones. Contrast that (not to throw stones) with the previous regime where 5 star can't misses ended up going in lower rounds and very few draft picks.
  17. This is the kicker, hitting is hot and cold but pitching has been consistently terrible all year. Can't expect to win it all with that formula. And the goal at Texas is to win it all, not make it to a regional.
  18. Will be excited on draft day for the first time in many years - both as a Texas fan and as a Texans fan.
  19. Reminds me a bit of Jalen Milroe with his deep pass. Just not the same runner.
  20. Rod mentioned on the latest show that if Sark doesn't think Helm is a difference maker that he won't scheme him. And you'll see it I. The first few games. This made me think, once a defensive coordinator sees that, wouldn't he then scheme accordingly? Like rotate a weaker defender over to Helm knowing he's not a threat. It kind of reminds me of when ou would put in Blake Bell, I would scream that it's an obvious run and was utterly confused why Texas didn't sell out on the line knowing it was a 99% chance it was a run. Any help in understanding the thought processes of the defense would be appreciated.
  21. Exactly, is so easy to loophole it's asanine.
  22. As with college, I think a little luck plays into whether a player will be successful or not (most of the time). As someone said earlier, Worthy's production may vastly differ from being in KC's offense versus being in say the Bears. Also, there's a big difference in which QB is throwing you the ball, which is also out of the player's control.
  23. Texas was supposed to win last year also, throw out all expectations for that game.
  24. Roschon Johnson or J Whitt for me, both gave their hearts for the program, did whatever was asked of them, and helped change the culture to bring Texas back to the national spotlight. They were never seen as me first players.
  25. With Ohio St. amount of skill position players, Howard doesn't need to be CJ Stroud, if he just game manages and does not turn the ball over, they probably win 90% of their schedule on that alone.
