  1. I really don’t think “Texas fans” are piling on Arch NEARLY as much as the outside world. It truly is insane and illogical. The build up tear down cycle that Gerry has mentioned is in full effect. Never mind that Arch did pretty much just as well as any QB that faced Ohio State last year. He had ugly passes, yes. He also did have some spectacular plays. And he didn’t mess up so much that we were completely out of the game. Idiots out there are acting like this was the worst showing ever while simultaneously glorifying Ohio State’s defense. There is no logic to the sports entertainment business these days. Hating on athletes is the ultimate money maker, unfortunately. Lauding one team or player only gets you an audience with that team or player’s fans. Hating on a team or player gets you an audience with the fans of the other 120+ teams.
  2. Sark has one weakness and we all know it- goal line. I think his issue right now is he’s not trusting our backs enough to run power. I do think we’re more capable of it this year than we were last year. We need to line up under center with two fullback/TEs in the backfield and see what C4 can get us. Or run play action out of that. We have that Cowboy back coach, let’s freaking use him. C4 got us from the 3 yd line to the 1 yd line. Sark didn’t trust him from the 1 yd line to the EZ. I would have much rather seen C4 try for it with some lead blockers and get stuffed rather than that pathetic QB sneak
  3. That is obviously false. The throw to endries on the sideline was very well feathered. Many of the passes he did poorly with he has done perfectly fine with in the past. He does need work controlling his velocity.
  4. Our OL is probably better than Clemson’s too
  5. I don’t think Arch would have been sacked by LSU any more times than Klubnik, he’s just as mobile. He might have thrown a lot more errant passes and been picked off more. But imo, Arch did a pretty good job avoiding sacks
  6. Seems we went broke not taking a profit yesterday
  7. I don’t think the Florida defense is close to as good as Ohio State’s, but we’ll see
  8. On a positive note, OU’s RBs are only averaging 2.8 YPC on Illinois State right now
  9. Another aspect to consider- maybe Sark didn’t want this game vs Ohio State to be his best called game of the season, or the peak game. Those Michigan and Bama games were great, probably the best called game of the season. That was especially important to get the Bama win in the 4 team CFP era. In this 12 team era, maybe it’s best to save some stuff for say the Florida game. Especially when he saw something was up with Arch (nerves). Could have been a problem wasting wrinkles just for drives to stall
  10. I think not having film on Patricia at the college level or any kind of idea on his tendencies with Ohio State neutralized Sark’s ability to dial things up with the extra prep time. Even for Martindale last season, Sark had a week one game to watch to get some idea. And that game wasn’t a runaway for Michigan last year in week one either
  11. Ohio State barely had over 200 total yards of offense at home. They have the best group of pass catchers in the nation. Their analysts are very high on their OL. If you think holding tOSU to a little over 200 yds and 14 points at home is pedestrian, you don’t know what you’re talking about. Even though we didn’t get sacks, the DL had a big role in limiting both passing yds and (obviously) rushing yds. And the word you were looking for is “vaunted” not “vaulted”
  12. Manning’s misses were so uncharacteristic from what we’ve seen that I’ve got to believe it’s fixable. It seemed like he was just trying to throw with one bullet speed on every throw. I do think it will get better. I think he could have benefited greatly from a tune up game. Anything you could have NOT asked for a game as a 1st time starter QB, this had it. This has to be the worst “thrown into the fire”/pressure week one game for a guy in Arch’s shoes of all time. With how bad Arch’s game was, if Arch would have come through on that last drive and got another TD and sent the game to OT, that would have literally been a Heisman moment. I know it’s a what if. But with how much of a nightmare it was (and it was), we were much closer to talking about his performance in more favorable terms than people are letting on.
  13. When was the last time PSU or UGa have played a true road game against a Top 5 opponent in week one? I’ll wait
  14. I believe it. I wouldn’t be surprised at all if we’re significantly improved there. I think Manning was probably even a factor there- don’t know for sure, but it did seem Ohio State was playing things conservatively and not allowing deep shots, opening things up a bit in the box.
  15. Could be worse guys, Bama’s looking like poop vs FSU. I saw it coming. I called this game as a potential week one upset- certainly didn’t see Bama covering like 17 points away. I truly think Bama could go like 6-6 this year, possibly even worse than that. People highly devalued how much of a cheat code Milroe’s running was and de-emphasized the uncertainty around Ty Simpson (who had lest PT than Arch). People also highly devalued FSU- the 2-10 was an anomaly that they could quickly bounce back from to at least be a competitive 8-4 team. The team gave up last year. They’ve come out highly motivated now and Castellanos is looking like a guy that could be invited to New York in December.
  16. Did everything he could after he got burned. If Sayin would have put more mustard on it Guilbeau might not have been within 3 yards of Tate
  17. I’d say Endries won the TE battle against Klare Ohio State might be in trouble going against PSU, unless our run game and run D is just really good. We could have probably run for over 200 yds today if Arch wouldn’t have given Ohio State freebie outs with bad incompletions
  18. How does Graceson Littleton not get a game ball? Dude was insane out there as a true freshman going against probably the best group of pass catchers in the nation. He seemed to quickly earn the respect of Ohio State. They seemed to stop picking on him. Guilbeau seems like the weak link in the secondary at the moment.
  19. This is shaping into an unmitigated failure
  20. No- but saying our OL is bad when we run for 50+ on Ohio State is clearly asinine. It’s bad RZ playcalling
  21. They had 50 freaking yards on the ground in one drive.
  22. Sark is just a bad goal line and short yardage play caller. Bottom line
  23. If this is a script, it’s a bad script
  24. Ohio State’s calling a better game right now
