  1. I feel like I am in the minority with Ewers. I think his leash is still pretty long. This is his job and Sarkisian will do whatever he can to ensure he gets to the finish line with Ewers under center. With that said, this is also a team that is very-well suited to win or compete for a National Championship. If a change is necessary,Sarkisian will make it. But Ewers looked much better against Vandy than we saw vs. Georgia.
  2. ATH Jalen Lott – incredible athlete and could be effective at either side of the ball OT John Turntine – bonafide 5-star tackle OL Toa Katoa – moves so incredibly well for someone 360+ pounds
  3. I kind of buy it. Not to mention, the entire offseason, everything that we have talked about and opponents have heard was about the speed of the Texas offense. If you know you won't get beat on the ground, you can sit defenders back deep and play a style of defense that forces short throws and checkdowns while knowing you won't get beat on the ground. It has to change for Texas.
  4. Love it. Offensively, 3rd down conversion %. Can Texas extend drives and get into positions to score? They have been great this year, with the exception of the Georgia game, and currently rank 18th in the country at 46.7% and that is with a 2/15 performance against Georgia in the mix. Against everyone else, they have been elite. Defensively, points per possession allowed. Texas is 2nd in the country right now, allowing 1.01 points per possession they face defensively. On Medium (60+ yards) and Long field (80+) yards, Texas is the No. 1 defense in the country. On short fields, 60 yards or less, Texas defensively ranked 35th in the country.
  5. Will keep this running until 2:00 or so.
  6. Let's go! Over the next hour+ I wanted to get some of your questions answered that we have yet to get to on livestreams or the chat previously. Bring all of your questions, comments and concerns regarding the 2024 team, recruiting to finish out the cycle and the outlook of the SEC for the remainder of the season. Will hopefully be able to get to every single question in the chat.
  7. Was my favorite Longhorn growing up
  8. Nice.
  9. Hoping he gets a fair crack at the league!
  10. I am really rooting for this game to be a top 10 matchup.
  11. Worth noting that Aaron Butler suited up for this game and traveled on Saturday. He had not previously suited up for the last five games or so. Perhaps a reward for a nice week of practice.
  12. He’s coming along very well in practice too.
  13. He would make one heck of a coach after his playing days are up.
  14. Texas DB Michael Taaffe has been named the Burlsworth Walk-On of the Week. Taaffe was also named the SEC Co-Defensive Player of the Week for his performance against Vanderbilt where he racked up an interception, forced fumble and pass breakup in the end zone. Quite the weekend for Taaffe who has continued to shine as one of the Longhorns most important defensive players this season.
  15. He really did take advantage of his snaps on Saturday. Again, only nine snaps with him on the field and you could argue he had an entire game's worth of highlights from the cornerback position. Really, really encouraging in regards to his long term potential for Texas.
  16. Black is a corner through and through. He was a guy that has come along tremendously since the start of the season and has earned the reps through consistent practice.
  17. DB Kobe Black played nine snaps on Saturday, he was targeted three times. – 1/3 passing for 9 yards – one PBU – one forced incompletion in the end zone – one pick six negated by penalty.
  18. A quick update to the 2024 redshirt tracker for the freshman class. – DB Jordon Johnson-Rubell saw four snaps on special teams and his redshirt was burned as a result this weekend. – No other surprises at the moment. – The official stat sheet had Jordan Washington having played in this game but accredited him with a QB Hurry. I am checking on this now, but after a rewatch, I did not see No. 84 on the field on Saturday, preserving his redshirt status.
  19. "Tell (the DBs) to move up, and we will throw over them. They played man-to-man on one snap that wasn't in the red area, we threw a touchdown pass. Tell them to move up."
  20. I asked Sarkisian about finding a balance in finding a vertical passing attack in the offense, wondering if it was reads or progressions on the QB side or if there is more to it: "Tell (the DBs) to move up." That was it.
  21. The team did meetings only on Monday. The team did workout with Torre Becton this morning. Practice Wednesday and Thursday. No practice Friday, but a workout in the morning. And obviously nothing on Saturday and Sunday during the weekend.
