  1. It official. Jared Spencer will miss the rest of the season.
  2. Someone will give up way too much to move up to get him. That's not a knock on Sanders, but further shows that NFL teams don't know what they're doing at quarterback. They're routinely overdrafted.
  3. We just wrapped up Jim Schlossngale's media availability ahead of tomorrow's opening game of a three-game home series between No. 1 Texas and Texas A&M. Here are a few key things to file away: — Jared Spencer is returning from Houston after undergoing further evaluation for the arm injury he suffered in last Thursday's win over Auburn. Spencer will speak with his family before he decides what to do next, which includes surgery. As Blake Munroe reported this morning, Ruger Riojas will start the Friday game against the Aggies, followed by Luke Harrison on Saturday. (Update: Late Thursday afternoon, the program confirmed that Spencer has a shoulder injury that will force him to miss the rest of the 2025 season.) — Jonah Williams left Tuesday's road win over Texas State with a leg injury. Schloss said Williams was feeling "pretty good" today. They won't push him in practice today to help him continue his recovery. Williams' availability for the A&M series is TBD. — Ethan Mendoza isn't ready to return to second base yet. Schloss said Mendoza will remain in the DH spot in the lineup. It'll either be Jayden Duplantier or Adrian Rodriguez manning second base until Medoza is ready to return to his full-time role. ICYMI, Blake published insider notes on the baseball team Thursday morning, including what the weekend rotation might look like without Spencer.
  4. That can happen when you're throwing guys who haven't pitched much this season.
  5. University of Texas head football coach Steve Sarkisian has agreed to speak to the Touchdown Club of Houston. He will speak and take questions at noon, Mon., April 28, at the Bayou City Event Center. Tickets are $50 each. Tables are $500 (regular), $750 (bronze), $1,000 (silver), $1,500 (gold) and $2,500 (platinum). All tables are 10 seats each.
  6. The struggle is real between Jon Gruden and boxes.
  7. I had to make an educated guess, Ruger will start the Friday game against A&M with Grubbs ready, Harrison stays on Saturday and a bullpen game on Sunday. If Bing doesn’t start the Tuesday game in San Marcos or it’s a short outing, he could start things off on Sunday against the Aggies.
  8. Schloss on not wanting to extend Ruger Riojas on Saturday and what impact Spencer’s health had on the pitching plan: “We won’t know what’s going on with Jared for a while. I can’t envision him pitching next weekend. We wanted to have options for Friday and Saturday and since we have a little bit extra time, we can make those choices.” Schloss on Spencer’s recovery: ”He’s going through all the testing, trying to get different opinions on what’s going on with him.”
  9. They’re going to be overly cautious. Schloss and Max Weiner won’t push Spencer if there’s a shred of doubt regarding his health.
  10. That's the second time in three weekends Texas has swept a top-10 team. The Longhorns move to 33-5 overall, 16-2 in SEC play.
  11. Schuessler homered over the Yeti Yard. The three-run shot is his second bomb of the day, giving the Longhorns a walk-off win to secure a series sweep of No. 8 Auburn.
  12. Texas has runners on first and third with two outs. Schuessler is up, trying to end it in walk-off fashion.
  13. Mendoza reaches on an error, Galvan draws a walk and Auburn is going back to the bullpen.
  14. Regarding Jonah's bunt single earlier, having a left-handed speedster in the lineup who can bunt is a tremendous weapon. Jonah could be the new Eric Kennedy bunt single specialist.
  15. Borba left the yard, over the visiting bullpen, onto the street. The two-run shot makes it an 11-2 game.
  16. He got it. He went the other way for a single to left.
  17. Jonah leads off the seventh, looking for his fifth hit of the weekend.
  18. Junior righty Hayden Murphy is the fifth pitcher of the day for Auburn.
