  1. We discuss football recruiting here quite a bit and I started to wonder what are the differences between football versus basketball recruiting? Smaller staff for basketball, but also fewer offers as well. I never really hear about the basketball coaching staff on the road, though I am sure they are. I would think recruiting for basketball that the coaching staff has shifted from a winter focus of getting out to a recruit or prospects game to a Summer AAU tournament or shoe company sponsored event. Is this correct? Finally on the current situation at Texas, given the current roster and the lack of returning talent, it would seem the coaching situation needs to be resolved quickly. The transfer portal opens March 24 and closing April 25, a staff has to be in place quickly to beat take advantage of the talent acquisition from the portal. Thoughts?
  2. Yes. Especially if they play like their first two games of the SEC tournament. Yes, they belong. By the thinnest of margins. No to the NIT if it comes to that.
  3. At Texas, success does not mean continuation of employment when it comes to head coaches. CDC has dismissed coaches with winning records and bowl season success. And I agree with the previous poster, the season loses are not secondary all at once to a run in the SEC tournament. Win any number of late season games and Texas is not in the do or die situation they now face.
  4. Crazy! https://www.chron.com/sports/highschool/article/texas-high-school-softball-teams-91-runs-20208586.php
  5. It’s probably just me, but I am willing to bet the staff and coaches have a plan with multiple options in place to address the running back position. Just let them do what they are very well payed to do.
  6. I go back to the recruiting class for last year, when he lost two key recruits in the days leading up to NSD. That team had to quickly change direction and never quite recovered from what it could have been. That hurt possible portal recruiting and had an impact on this years team. I have supported RT throughout, but this years product was not up to standards.
  7. I always thought the duo Robert Plant and Alison Krause was incredible. Just not two people I would have ever thought about putting together. A second melding of talent was the “We Are the World” recording. I saw a video of the evening of the recording and the talent in that room was incredible. There were a few duets in that recording that on the surface made no sense, but never underestimate the vision of Quincy Jones.
  8. A few years ago while traveling Italy we had the opportunity to do wine tasting of better red wines. Changed my thinking. We don’t drink them everyday, but once a month or a special occasion. Wish I could afford everyday consumption, just can’t stroke that big of a check. in the Summer, I do a grapefruit vodka with Counitreau, mixed with Fresca. Fresca is the key. I call it a Beachbum. Dangerous.
  9. Recruits have been known to lie. So have coaching staffs. Park the dump trucks and quit trying to turn this molehill into a mountain.
  10. I can see three wins at home. You have to steal one on the road and not sure who that could be. Will need to stay healthy to find four wins. But the last few games have given me a glimmer of hope.
