Appreciate that for sure! Honestly today has been his best day at home. His HS football HC/AD stopped to visit him for a couple of hours and his select baseball HC called him and talked. It worked wonders from the mental side of things for him. A step in the right direction! On to PT tomorrow!

It’s also going to come down to what the kid thinks of himself. MLB will love his arm, as he will hit 100 mph. But he’s also an elite SS prospect, especially at the collegiate level. You’ll see him play both at Texas, imo, if it all works out.

Well we’ve been home since Thursday and if I say its been easy, I’ll be lying. Colt is doing better but we have an incredibly long journey ahead. He's beginning to eat a little better for sure but the pain, long nights, etc are still there. It also seems to be a big mental thing and I think he’s in shock that he went from being an incredibly in shape athlete to looking like a twig. I’m also wondering if it’s setting in that he nearly died 12 days ago. And when I say nearly died, I mean it. We found out a few days after it happened that he was sooo incredibly close to death. If he waited 30 more minutes before calling me to come get him, I’m probably not having this conversation. We start physical therapy on Monday. I’m hoping that helps. But it’s been tough watching him like this. No playing catch, no trying to catch me off guard and beat up on me, no asking me for gas money, no “dad what’s for dinner im starving”. All the little things I’ve always taken for granted are currently on hold. Your continued prayers would be much appreciated. I never would have dreamed it would be this rough when we returned home.

Spoke with some sources regarding Lubbock Monterey’s Aaliyah Chavez and where things stand on National Signing Day. Don’t be surprised if Chavez, the nation’s No. 1 player for 2025, doesn’t sign today. I’m not saying she won’t for sure, but it very well may not happen and it wouldn’t shock the schools below if that were the case. Here’s the rundown on what I’m hearing on the schools in the running as of mid-morning. Texas: Feels great about their chances. Basically just waiting on a decision at this point. They’ve done everything right and have been thought to be the leader for awhile. Texas Tech: Chavez just wrapped up an OV there and it went well. They’re pushing the whole “hometown hero” scenario to her. The ADIDAS affiliation looms large, however, as Chavez is a Nike kid. Oklahoma: One of the schools that has been quietly making progress in this recruitment. Some schools on this list wouldn’t be shocked if it ended up being OU. UCLA: She enjoyed her time out west, but those in the know would be surprised if the Bruins were the pick unless there’s a very large NIL push at the last moment. LSU: The general consensus is that the Tigers have signed too many players. They seem to be out of it.

Today will be a busy day for many sports on the Forty Acres, especially when it comes to baseball. The Longhorns are expecting 16 kids to sign at some point throughout the day. Don't expect many fireworks, as it should be a relatively quiet NSD. I'm being told that there aren't any surprises or decisions that they're monitoring. The staff is very excited about this class and the potential of it. It's been the status quo for a while now, but the focus will continue to be on 2026 recruiting.
