On Saturday afternoon, the Longhorns picked up a commitment from LSU transfer Aiden Moffett. The right handed pitcher’s playing time was sparse for the Tigers, as he appeared in 16 games this past season, posting a 5.60 ERA through 17.2 innings of play and striking out 21 batters in the process. 9:35 PM Update: I spoke with Aiden 2-3 days ago and he told me there was a lot of mutual interest. I can’t get into specifics just yet, but expect a big time announcement from Texas in the coming days as they continue to fill the staff under new HC Jim Schlossnagle. This will be an off the field role, but a major one, and one that will make Longhorn fans very happy. As soon as we are allowed to release it, we will. But I’m beyond thrilled with this hire.

On Friday evening, the Longhorns picked up their second commitment of the 2025 class under new Head Coach Jim Schlossnagle. Jack Paris, a one time Texas A&M commit out of Houston Kincaid, has decided to switch his commitment from the Aggies to the Longhorns. Paris can play first base and is a stud on the mound, although it’s currently unknown where Texas plans to use him. The 6-foot-3, 200-pound right hander had a 90 mph fastball last summer.

Coffee and Football starts at 8 AM and we will be talking all about the Longhorns. Recruiting, team notes, baseball and everything else is on the table today, plus we will be taking your questions.

Kinky Friedman passed away this morning at the age of 79 after a long battle with Parkinson’s disease. A University of Texas graduate, Friedman did it all and did it in a way only he could. He was an author, musician, songwriter, politician and much more. He was always super nice to me and would always have everyone around him laughing. RIP to a true one of a kind guy.

I just confirmed with a source that Troy Tulowitzki will NOT be joining Jim Schlossnagle’s staff as originally anticipated.

“Our staff has a proven track record of doing things the right way.”

Schloss says his first order of business is to contact the players.

“Beginning now we have to prepare to compete in the major leagues of college baseball. If you’ve never been in SEC baseball, get ready.”

“To the current and future players the program belongs to you as well.” Says Augie told him ”If you ever decide to come to Texas, this will never be your program.” He means that it will always be for the players.
