Plus, what were the main takeaways from today’s media availability? And we hooked y’all up with some insider news and notes. All that and more in the video below!
  12. On February 14th, the Longhorns will take the field at Globe Life in Arlington for the first time under new Texas Head Coach Jim Schlossnagle. With just 21 days away from that first pitch, I spoke to a couple of sources to see where things stand. Pitching: Two players in particular have carved out starting roles on the mound. LHP Jared Spencer (Indiana State) looks to be your Friday starter, while LHP Luke Harrison will take the Saturday slot. Spencer has been particularly impressive from what I've been told, with multiple people raving about his abilities. As for Harrison, it sounds like pitching coach Max Weiner has helped him come on really strong (get ready for one heck of a breaking ball). Sunday and the weekday starter(s) are still up in the air at this time. As for Ruger Riojas, I'm told that he's the best all around pitcher on the staff. Look for him to have a very similar role to what Evan Aschenbeck had for Texas A&M last season. He's hands down the best reliever, but may not be seen as a closer. True freshmen Drew Rerick, Jason Flores and Dylan Volantis should all see playing time on the mound this season as well. Fan favorite Ace Whitehead is still battling back from surgery recovery and there is no timetable for his return. Projected Lineup: Catcher - Ryan Galvan 1B - Kimble Schuessler 2B - Ethan Mendoza 3B - Adrian Rodriguez SS - Jalin Flores LF - Easton Winfield CF - Will Gasparino RF - Max Belyeu It wasn't long ago that we weren't sure who will take the starting roles at 1B, 3B and CF, but I've been told that Schuessler, Rodriguez and Gasparino have came on strong. As for Rodriguez, it sounds like he's the best freshman position player out of the bunch at this point. The staff loves that he's a switch hitter and have full faith in him, despite being new on campus. Jonah Williams: In case you missed my update on Williams from yesterday... One source close to the baseball program told me that there is no definitive timetable for Williams return. “I’m not sure. Hoping to be cleared for some stuff and we’ll go from there,” said the source. Williams is doing certain work outs trying to balance being in both baseball and football shape at the same time. He also works with both the football and baseball staff at different parts of the day. As for where he’ll end up on the diamond, I’ve been told that will all work itself out as he continues to get healthier. On the mound or in the outfield are the two options, but the quicker path to earlier playing time will be pitching… for now.
  13. Recording with CJ today, btw.
  14. AUSTIN, Texas – Eight months after appearing in the championship series of the Women's College World Series for the second time in the last three seasons, The University of Texas softball program will begin a historic campaign on Friday, Feb. 7 as Longhorn softball head coach Mike White announced Thursday UT's 2025 regular season schedule. 2025 will mark the first season for Texas, which was selected as the No. 1 team in the ESPN.com/USA Softball Collegiate Top 25 preseason rankings, in the Southeastern Conference (SEC) after the Longhorns arrived in the league on July 1, 2024. UT concluded its stay in the Big 12 Conference by posting a 23-4 record in league play en route to winning the Big 12's regular season championship after winning its last 14 consecutive regular season conference games. The following weekend begins the Longhorn Invitational that welcomes South Florida, Abilene Christian, New Mexico State and Alabama A&M to the Forty Acres for a three-day tournament beginning on Friday, Feb. 28 and concluding on Sunday, March 2. Texas will then welcome former conference foe Baylor to Red & Charline McCombs Field on Wednesday, March 5, before, again, hitting the road for a three-day tournament in Columbus, Ohio as part of the Ohio State Invitational. During their weekend in Ohio, the Longhorns will play St. Francis, Oakland, Merrimack, Dayton and Ohio State. Saturday, March 15 marks the first-ever SEC series for Texas as the Longhorns travel to Gainesville, Fla., to play Florida. The first home conference series for UT is slated to begin on Friday, March 21, when Texas plays Auburn. Following a mid-week contest against SFA on Tuesday, March 25, the Longhorns begin a six-game road slate with a three-game conference series at Mississippi State (3/28 – 3/30) and Missouri (4/4 – 4/6). A season-long seven-game homestand begins on Wednesday, April 9, when Texas State travels up I-35 before Tennessee (4/11 – 4/13) and LSU (4/17 – 4/19) arrive in town as well. One last regular season road trip awaits the Longhorns to close out April as Texas travels north to play Oklahoma State in Stillwater on Wednesday, April 23, before facing Oklahoma in Norman (4/25 – 4/27). A three-game series against Kentucky (5/1 – 5/3) is slated to round out UT's regular season, before the SEC Tournament begins on Tuesday, May 6 in Athens, Ga.
  15. Definitely. Working on a few things but we will have a good bit of baseball content coming soon.
  16. Cap off the work week with some Coffee and Football starting around 8:10 (or 8:15 or sometimes even 8:20) AM. We will answer your questions and talk all about the latest happenings with the Longhorns.
  17. No. He is not throwing at all at this point. I would temper any expectations of him right now, to be honest.
