  1. 1. Ohio State 2. LSU 3. Miami 4. Notre Dame 5. Texas 6. Clemson
  2. I can't stand A&M or Liucci, but he cooked with this take imo. Where are the 40+ ppg offenses we saw from him as the OC at Alabama? Based on the concerns about not having any touchdown makers on this offense, that won't change this season and probably next season unless they find guys like that in the portal. Gotta see how the offense looks after Red River and go from there, but most likely, the red zone and short yardage issues will continue. Maybe he starts taking the 3 points if we're lucky.
  3. I get what you’re saying, but who on 2023 Michigan’s offense had game breaking speed?
  4. Because it doesn’t fit the narrative. Not sure if Dabo will ever be what he was from 2015-2020 again as the HC at Clemson. Mr. Sioux Falls did win the Pack 12 and played for a natty in a 4 team CFP though.
  5. I feel the same way about Flood overall, but he gets some flowers from me for yesterday’s performance. Pass pro was much better than I expected yesterday and the run blocking, particularly on the left side of the line is something to build off of. Didn’t like the penalties or the lack of push in short yardage goal line situations. But those two things might be something we have to live with since it’s been an issue for multiple seasons now.
  6. A Nuss like performance is good enough if the run game is what it was yesterday. Those were good game manager type stats.
  7. Hero Kanu looked solid yesterday. Hoping a sixth guy emerges in that interior DL room to have a true 3-deep rotation. Could be Melvin Hills or Lavon Johnson. Repeat yesterday’s performance defensively with more splash plays (TFLs, fumble recoveries, interceptions, sacks, etc.) and this defense could be one of the best in school history. Helps to have a punter that makes opposing offenses drive the length of the field to score points on them.
  8. Some really called for Matthew Caldwell to come in like that would help the situation lol
  9. 200+ ypg and 5+ ypc is very realistic for this running game if everyone stays healthy. If they get more push in the short yardage and red zone situations, this could be the best rushing attack in America by the end of the regular season for a team that doesn't run the triple option. Manning just needs to make the short and intermediate throws consistently, then the real fun will begin with his deep throws. Do that enough and they'll be in Atlanta in December and Miami next January. Don't do that enough and they'll be in Orlando playing in the Citrus Bowl.
  10. UF’s offense will be a bigger test for this defense than even Ohio State. They will be battle tested from two back to back big road games against Miami and LSU. Could be too beat up to beat Texas but probably not. Sark has to prove he can beat OU back to back, they’re PO’ed and want revenge, and when they have a competent QB before I pencil that in as a win. Should beat A&M regardless as that game has the biggest effect on recruiting for Texas. I’ll throw Arkansas in there as they are a rival, but Texas should be okay in that matchup.
  11. Sark is always holding back plays for the next opponent even in last year’s final four lol. Unless he gets to the SEC title game at 9-3 and wins it, they have to go 10-1 in their next 11 games to make the CFP guaranteed. That loss left little margin for error overall, even if it didn’t affect their confidence standings. Will a 6-2 conference record be enough to get them back to Atlanta? Who knows. A 7-1 record get them in guaranteed imo
  12. Honestly, I’m surprised Milwee is still at Texas tbh. I’m sure he’s received OC offers elsewhere over the years, but he’s remained loyal to Sark. He might be eyeing an NFL gig soon. Michael Bimonte was promoted to assistant QB coach. Could be Milwee’s successor if he leaves. Milwee won’t get fired, but Sark would encourage him to get out while the getting is still good. I agree with you that QB play outside of a handful of games should be better in year five of this staff than it is today. The QBs may change (Card, Thompson, Ewers, Murphy, now Manning) but those same issues remain. Like you, I also wonder how much Milwee teaches vs how much Sark teaches the QB mechanics. Were Tagovailoa and Jones just generational QBs?
  13. James Franklin is the most obvious answer. Other options include Brian Kelly, Marcus Freeman, Dan Lanning, and 2019-2023 Ryan Day.
  14. Need more sacks, forced fumbles, and interceptions I agree with that. Still worried about Gilbeau and Muhammad. We won’t know how much they’ve really improved until early October.
  15. A play action bootleg would’ve been sweet
  16. If I’m not mistaken, 2020 was the year Herman hired Mike Yurcich to call plays on offense. Two things: it was a COVID season, so not sure how many teams were able to properly install their defensive schemes. 69 of their points came from the K-State game the week after Texas missed the Big 12 title game due to losing to ISU. It is alarming the ppg output is on a downtrend no doubt. The ypg looks pretty, but if you can’t score points, it doesn’t mean much.
  17. I think he wants to do both because his ego won’t let him give it up and one of his greatest mentors, Pete Carroll, did that when he was at USC. Carroll was both the head coach and defensive coordinator/playcaller during his tenure there and won a couple of natties. Sark is trying to prove he can do that too.
  18. How, going into year five, has the offense gotten to this point with the offensive mastermind they have? I will say the defensive recruiting has been superior to the offensive recruiting. I was skeptical of PK after his first season and mid-way through his second season, but he has really come around the last few seasons. Why can't the offense do the same? I thought by year five, Texas would be averaging 40+ ppg, but it seems to be regressing every season. I would argue the best offensive performance I've seen from Sark at Texas was in Red River in 2021 with a healthy Casey Thompson. Makes you wonder if teams have figured him out and he still can win because the defense is fantastic and not all opponents have the talent to stop them despite knowing what's coming.
  19. That’s why I think the defense’s performance was good but not elite. Needed more splash plays. No sacks, no turnovers. A few too many penalties. Leaky coverage bailed out by drops.
  20. Gotta see them @ Miami and @ LSU to make an accurate judgement of them.
  21. It’s been a problem the previous two seasons and appears to be a problem again this season. It can’t be the QB only.
  22. When he’s not playing Michigan, he’s the second best HC in the game behind Kirby.
  23. Have to wonder if these mechanics are being taught to them by the staff at this point.
