  1. I don’t think one game is evidence. Yes FSU looked bad but you can’t speculate that they would be destroyed in the playoffs. Oregon looked good last year until they played OSU. FSU may or may not have won a playoff game. Ole Miss is losing their offensive identity. Pete Golding has never been a head coach. While Ole Miss has dudes can Pete Golding manage the game to win? Doesn’t matter if you have dudes if you don’t have the right coach look what happens. Look at Franklin can’t win the big game even with all the dudes he had. just saying Ole Miss is not the same team without Kiffin. Doesn’t mean Ole Miss can’t win but the dynamics does change a little.
  2. Yes the QB true freshman played poorly but they still won. You think Ole Miss is the same team without Kiffin?
  3. I would like to see what the Bama fan base would do if Georgia beats Bama by two scores and Bama gets left out of the playoffs.
  4. The playoff committee has a mess. Ole Miss lost their coach are they a playoff team now? They kept FSU out with undefeated season and conference championship just because they lost their QB. Should Bama lose is it fair to not punish Bama and yet punish Texas for losing to OSU. Both have a bad loss and Florida did beat FSU. If Georgia wins by two scores how can Bama be #1 seed in SEC. Georgia is playing on a high level now. If the committee wanted to pick a darling Vanderbilt right now with Pavia is the media story. Pavia will probably be in NY for the heisman and the committee could justify taking them. I don’t agree with Bama or Vanderbilt if you did that what is the justification for leaving Texas out despite going 3-2 against top playoff teams. I also don’t believe Texas is a playoff team this year to inconsistent and you don’t know what team will show up.
  5. No. The non conference looks better. However, FL, Arkansas, Ole Miss will have new coaches even with portal the players will have new system and schemes to learn. Tennessee just replaces Vanderbilt but you do have the extra SEC conference game LSU will be tough but not sure about Missouri.
  6. I think ND should be forced to join a conference. Otherwise they are no different than a non power 4 schedule wise that gets in just because they won their conference or beat 1 playoff contender. It should be setup that the top 12 or 16 in the future get in. No conference champion gets in that is not ranked in top 12 or 16. If you don’t fix that no team will play a marque matchup in the preseason. I think they should do away with conference championship all together.
  7. If Georgia beats Alabama and Tech beats BYU only one spot would be open. Who does the committee like: Vanderbilt, Utah, BYU, Miami or Texas. Each team has had a win over a playoff team in contention. If BYU loses to Tech they only have Utah and Utah would only have BYU(doubt Cincinnati would be ranked). Vanderbilt and Miami are the two teams likely to knock Texas out. Vanderbilt would only have Tennessee and maybe Mizzou if they are ranked and Miami would only have ND. However, Vanderbilt is getting much love with Pavia and is possible heisman winner. With the way Vanderbilt is playing and Pavia in the heisman talk I would not doubt Vanderbilt gets the last spot even though Texas beat them. Just like 2008 with OU playing in Big 12 Championship even though Texas beat them.
  8. I think Sark has arrogance and stubbornness. He truly feels like his team will win out and make the playoffs. I am not sure Sark wanted this info out about looking into the NFL especially on game day. If he does win out and makes the playoffs despite lackluster offense would get some attention by NFL teams. It does seem like Sark has some desire to coach in the NFL. Really college is become more like the NFL with longer season, free agency/Portal, and NIL/Contracts. The main difference is players union vs recruiting. Who knows with having a baby maybe Sark feels like he needs to be more at home. In NFL can do this but college you can’t with recruiting. In college dont have much of a break due to recruiting but make more money because of this. Sark or his agent are looking at a high risk/ high reward with all coaching opportunities in both NFL and College. Sark better win out and make the playoffs otherwise not sure the NFL will take him. Not only at you just destroyed relationships with University, Boosters, Team, Recruits and fans.
  9. Interesting hire wonder what Larry Johnson thinks of the hire? I know Belichick is bringing his son to North Carolina as DC but interesting Belichick didn’t reach out to Patricia for some staff position. Either way two new coordinators new QB and replacing ton of NFL talent on defense bodes well for Texas you would think.
  10. It doesn’t make sense to leave a small private school to go to a larger school like Texas which has one of the biggest Athletic departments and relatively unlimited resources. SMU had to buy their way into the ACC. How big can SMU’s budget be when you factor in the deal they made to get into the ACC vs. traveling cost, facility upgrades, coaches etc. Don’t forget NIL deals and possible revenue sharing deal. More of a headache. At Texas you are played well and no shortage of financial means. Boosters and fans can be a problem at any school so that shouldn’t be any issues.
  11. Karl Scott is young coached both in college and currently in NFL. Both Saban and Carroll hired Karl him and was at Alabama when Sark was there. Don’t know if he would be interested in recruiting but did seem to develop talent at his previous stops.
  12. Wondering with this hire if Banks can focus a little more with Special Teams.
  13. Welcome aboard! Always enjoyed reading your threads on 247. Enjoyed the podcasts and your live game threads.
  14. Was not impressed with Ohio State CBs last night. There Safeties on the other hand play lights out.
  15. Klein was a questionable hire in my opinion for Elko. I don’t think he was all that great for K State as OC. I don’t think Weigman fits the system. Maybe that is due to receivers, or Weigman was not making good decisions and throws. Al Golden called a great defense last night. I wonder if Henderson played if the A&M offense would have played better?
  16. I think Elko made a mistake by not trying to recruit Riley. He really likes look he could run Klein’s offense better. The way Riley runs is a lot like Tebow, Klein, Bell and Ehlinger very powerful. A&M’s defense will keep them in games for sure. It did look like A&M’s defense worn down a little in the 4th quarter. Bad angles and missed tackles really hurt them.
  17. Conference loss as well
  18. I think this is a bad hire for Day. I am not sure Kelly has the energy to recruit anymore. Kelly also does not like the NIL era right now. Kelly also has not matched the success that he had at Oregon. This could be disastrous for Day.
  19. Wonder if Ryan Williams ask out of his NLI? Really is DeBoer’s offense though.
  20. I agree but Caleb has been the best QB Riley has had. The problem is that QB in Riley’s system does not have to be the most talented. The QB just has to get the ball out quickly. You can see Caleb struggle if he can’t get his first option. I think defenses schemed better this year. Also think the Wars this year were not as good. Branch didn’t seem to be used as much as he could have. Both Deboer and Sark has shown to have good offensive schemes and QBs have improved in development each year. I think with Washington hiring Kingsbury as the OC they may try to trade up to get Caleb. Kingsbury was with USC this year so Kingsbury knows Caleb. The question will be are we seeing another Ryan Leaf or someone who can be coached to maximize his potential?
  21. I think Sark may have felt it was a matter of time before someone tried to poached Glasscock or Harris for GM position. I think Sark was trying to reconfigure the positions. I do believe keeping Harris is very valuable. He seems to connect well with recruits and has really helped Texas Football overall. Look no further than having Harris on the road recruiting when Davis left. As far as the NCAA this is not an easy solution. Division I, II, and III will be affected in some shape or form. I know a lot of people want the NCAA to go away but you need a strong plan in place. You will need something like they did after WWII with the Marshall Plan. Every level Division I, II, III men and female athletes will need to be evaluated as all will be affected by NIL, Transfer, Eligibility, etc. I am not sure there will be conferences in FBS but maybe a pod or region structure with each sport having a Commissioner with a rules committee. I think there will be eventually a players union with medical and disability benefits etc. I see college sports moving to a more professional model with certain rules, regulations, and penalties.
  22. Question is will non conference games exist? What do you do with the Military academies?
  23. I agree as a brand name you recruit the best no matter where they are from. But you do have to balance that with Head Coaches in Texas.
  24. I still think Georgia based on the Bevo vs Uga match in the Sugar the bowl
