  1. Maybe Day lacked confidence in the kicker for good reason. That late FG was dead center of the field and was nowhere close to- not even right hash.
  2. For a special occasion-type place, I'd recommend Wink, which I found reliable 10-15 years ago anyway and an early adopter on the farm-to-table movement in Austin. Excellent hospitality and an unassuming place sandwiched in a strip mall type of thing.
  3. Like others, I grew up in a community affected by 9/11, with untold folks who commuted in and out of the WTC every day, worked in the towers, etc. Family members have their stories about what they saw, what they heard, what the experienced - the mail sent from the towers that they received after 9/11 from people who perished in the meantime. I am proud to have grown up in a community near where Todd Beamer raised his family and, by chance, am now raising a family in the town where he grew up halfway across the country. Every 9/11 has remained a somber occasion since, but in the years that have passed, there has been remarkable clarity about two things - our shared humanity and, stripped of politics, the historical greatness of this country and its people. Every firefighter who worked in the NY fire department deserves our thanks, not only for rushing into the towers to experience certain death, but for the men, women, and dogs who worked what became known as the "pile" at Ground Zero after, searching for every human remain and scrap, and treating it all with dignity and care. But, as the years have passed, we have learned more about the non-uniformed folks on the upper floors who gave their lives in service of their fellow man. The security guy for Morgan Stanley who, contrary to tower security, told all of his people to evacuate down the stairs and refused to leave until all under his care had left. He lost his life. And for our football fans, spend the time to watch Tom Rinaldi's vignette on Welles Crowther, the trader who dreamed of becoming a firefighter (linked below). Crowther went up and down the upper floors multiple times to direct folks to safety. His family would learn how Crowther perished by reading a NY Times story months later about a man with a red bandana, which he carried around wherever he went. May we continue to remember all of these people for who they were - heroes.
  4. Robin Williams has to be in the discussion here…
  5. All because that guy wouldn’t eat dog poop.
  6. Who was the dude on kickoff coverage with the hard hit in the 4th quarter?
  7. He’s worth every penny they’re giving him.
  8. Easy now, we don’t want her to sue OTF.
  9. Do we know whether any of the LSU football guys totally pulled up their stakes in the NFL? Speaking of lawsuits, they might now have a gripe against LSU and its NiL groups.
  10. The SEC is not going to take a hard line against a key member institution. It is up to others to get competing injunctions in their states if LSU hits the road.
  11. Was the UIL about to take the stand against this kid - or do they save that for kids whose parents relocate for a job?
  12. I’m convinced. Howard should be running with the 1’s.
  13. I feel like Geffridge belongs on the list. I realize the idea was to lower his snap count, but does he prove too good to keep off the field?
  14. I am just waiting for opponents of some of these guys to file countersuits over these players’ eligibility. Maybe you can play in Baton Rouge, but maybe not in Athens, Fayetteville, etc.
  15. This is screaming out for a reference to Herman's pee chart.
  16. Kudos to A&M for making this part of their preseason program. If it isn’t already, it should be required at every school.
  17. This raises an important point for me. I'd love to do a ranking of "program guys" - the ones with ability whose behind the scenes contributions have driven us. RoJo, Taaffe, etc.
  18. Why would Freeman pick up the call from the jabroni? I’m calling bull.
  19. Maybe we should spend some time analyzing that the backup threw the ball with less wobble than Arch.
  20. Didn't Boom wear that same shirt yesterday?
