  1. Neto is one of the most athletic guards on the team. He should be a plus in pass pro, but you wont know until you see it.
  2. I agree with both of you. Does MT have high level athleticism? No. Is he a liability if matched up 1 on 1? Yes. His ceiling is only so high. That said safety and OL are similar positions. Consistency and assignment soundness are the most coveted traits. Busted play at safety is a TD. Busted play at OL is a back-up QB coming in the next play. MT is sound and consistent. It’s one reason I am rooting he is replaced, because I know that would mean his replacement is consistent, sound, and athletic.
  3. I am going 1982 UNC or 1996 UK…. Back when college basketball was as at its peak. Probably the only sport where a team from the 80s/90s would destroy a current team (Not old enough to remember the great UCLA teams or the undefeated Indiana team)
  4. Going to be a lot of experimenting going on during spring/fall camp. We will generally over-react to each one. We will see how it looks at the end of camp
  5. It’s hard to have any movement on the DL with 1 or 2 days with pads on. Need at least a week a pads on to get any real idea of how well the DL/OL are doing.
  6. I can not speak for everyone, but I am a little strange as a fan. I always root for the most talented player on the roster to start. I want the highest ceiling playing and in this case that is Neto. I will admit that does not always work. I was dying to see Kitan Crawford start at safety. Then I died watching him play safety.
  7. little underthrown, time for Arch!!
  8. or that is a come to Jesus moment for Sydir and it motivates him to dedicate himself to reaching ceiling. I am not even sure Sydir knows what any of this means for him yet.
  9. Hoping he has a big spring. He brings twitchiness that the EDGE is lacking.
  10. I would assume he will stay at left guard. That sets it up as 3 year starter (LT), 1st year starter, Old man river (C), 2 year starter, and new starter (RT). Keeping new starters surrounded by experience, avoiding having an entire side of the line being inexperienced. damn I read that wrong.. forget this
  11. 100%,, There will always be guys that struggle with health, weight, or other distractions. The deeper the dive the better your results will be, but you will never have a 100% hit rate recruiting teenagers
  12. That is the starting 5 I was hoping would work out. I feel like that is has the highest ceiling of any group. Doesnt mean it will end up the best, but that is the most talented group
  13. That is way football works and why you keep recruiting. You never know how injury luck will hit a position group and who you will need to play
  14. We are in the same spot. Guys like JWhitt and Shipley are the exceptions to the rule. You can’t count on Vasek and at some point the time away can become too much to overcome. I just think it’s a bit early to throw in the towel. The next 12 months are going to be huge for him.
  15. You never know. JWhitt was made of glass and young guns were coming in. He rallied for his last 2 seasons. At this point I am not counting on Vasek, but I am not ready to cut the cord
  16. I can’t imagine someone taking Brooks in the 2nd round. Feels like people are throwing a RB in the 2nd round just for drill.
  17. thanks. I love all the practice reports, but they are far more informative when the pads are on.
  18. Love the update, but curious when do the pads come on?
  19. There is a difference between scheming for a player and not using a player. Even last year when Helm was the 4th/5th option on most plays, Sark still dialed up some plays for him. What is a defense really going to do about it? Helm isn’t going to see a top cover guy from the secondary. If he does it’s because the defense screwed up, likely because Sark schemed up a way to get a LB or Safety on a WR.
  20. You are the one that said maybe he should reconsider. He understood the timeline, when he signed up. If he cant play at Texas, he isnt going to play in the league. Despite all the talk of a great WR room, there is very little proven commodities. Just my opinion, but Bond and Bolden are the only ones that have proven to be high level WRs in college football. The rest are about improving and realizing their potential.
  21. Just for a quick reality check.. Returning production at WR for Texas Bond- 48 for 668 yards , 4 TDs Golden- 38 catches 404 yards, 6 TDs Cook- 8 catches 138 yards, 0 Tds I am not sure someone that had 54 catches a 746 yards would look at that production and be afraid, which is probably why he signed with Texas. He is the only WR on the Texas roster to lead his team in receiving.
  22. NO.. still dealing with injury..
  23. My comment was in no way a slam at Cook. Just simply that if they both maximize their talents, I would pick Wingo. He is the bigger, faster player.
  24. Not at all. Cook is ~6'0 and 195 lbs. Wingo is 6'2" and 210. Cook ran a 10.76 100.. Wingo ran a 10.55 100. Wingo would will likely destroy the combine. He is bigger and more athletic, than Cook. That doesnt guarantee he will be better, but his ceiling is higher.
  25. I am not sure that is Bobby's rankings.
