  1. The fan base is doing some revisionist history with Quinn this year. He was NOT good his last year at Texas. There's a reason he was drafted where he was. 2023 was Quinn's best year, he never touched that in 2024.
  2. How'd the optimism that wasn't based in reality work last season?
  3. 9-3 no chance, 10-2 they won't be able to keep us out. Would end the season on a 6 win streak including multiple ranked teams. Tennessee is looking like they will have a pretty good record also. Ohio State is definitely vulnerable with backup QBs, but it's still Ohio State.
  4. Great minds
  5. Trap game after the huge win at Alabama, away game at SC maybe? Only way I can think of.
  6. Start Arch, let him play for the 1st quarter. He'll probably get 10 points on the first two drives, then the quarter ends. Bring in KJ for the second quarter. New script, he can score based on a lack of film with KJ at QB. Different script. Bring Arch back in to start the 3rd QB. Same script as you started the 1st with. Let KJ finish it out with his script again. Prevents the 3 quarters of 0 offense. People forget that they have free will and can legit do anything they want. Desperate times. You can basically do anything, it won't be worse than what it has been.
  7. With the Big 12 schedule, it seems very unlikely they don't get at least 2 teams in. Same for the Big 10, they will have teams that face 1-2 good teams all year. It is not a good season for a 9-3 team to get in. We would have quite an argument with quality of wins, good news is that losses early in the season mean much less than at the end of the season.
  8. You beat Ohio State before their QB got hurt and Tennessee before they beat Alabama. The teams we would beat the rest of the season would make our resume untouchable with the quality of wins. Zero chance they leave Texas out with a 10-2 record having wins over those teams.
  9. Agree, but it seems like reality at the moment.
  10. Currently sitting at 4-2 with wins over Ohio State and Tennessee, with losses to 3-3 OU and 5-2 Florida. Remaining games: vs Ole Miss ---Bad defense, gonna have to score some points most likely vs Miss. St. ---If Kamario Taylor is out, this game becomes exponentially easier. @ Mizzou ---Hard to predict if the team that smoked Florida and A&M shows up or the team that got smoked by Ole Miss/lost to Miss. St. shows up @ LSU ---Not confident at all vs Arkansas ---Only 99%+ confidence game @ A&M ---Like OU, will we be the only game they look competent in? Generally, feel like we should have a very good chance against Miss. State, especially if Kamario Taylor is out. Arkansas is a win, otherwise there will be no coaches left. Those are the only two remaining games on the schedule that seem like there is a 80%+ of winning. If the team plays well on Saturday, I like their chances of at least 8-4. If they play poorly again on Saturday, we could be staring 7-5 or 6-6 directly in the face.
  11. We'll see, guys can make some money Saturday. Gonna have to earn it that's for sure.
  12. Agree that the change was mostly pointless. I would say that Cryer seems to be one of the smarter defensive players we have had in a while. It is very evident that he is in complete control and very prepared, including calling out the offensive play. However, tackling has taken a significant step back. Biles misses a ton of tackles, Kobe Black had a terrible game tackling. Tackling got worse as the defense got more fatigued, but I have noticed a ton of missed tackles this season. I would still say that Florida's offense is clearly talented, new QB without film was always a concern. Especially when you give their offense so many chances to figure it out. Artificially giving them a chance for momentum at the end of the half was killer. Can't do much more on that 4th and 12 if you're a DB
  13. For sure. Maybe this will be the week the offense looks like a varsity team. Otherwise, defense is gonna give up points again. Ole Miss has scored 30 in every game this season except against Florida where they scored 28. Meanwhile, we have only scored 30 points against Texas State and UTSA (30 exactly).
  14. Even with 1 out there, it was going to be a very difficult matchup against Ole Miss for the Texas defense. Without his presence, not only in the pass rush but against the run also, I don't see the defense doing much better this week than against Florida. He has been the only Edge consistently providing pressure and consistently setting the edge against runs. Richard Wesley has definitely shown he can get a push, but he has lost contain consistently. I personally have no clue how we are favored this weekend. On one hand I wouldn't be surprised if Texas wins, on the other hand I would be shocked if they do win?? It's an impossible team to predict, the game on Saturday won't change how I view the team one way or another. Tackling needs to improve either way.
  15. Nothing about it is incomplete, these are in fact the offensive drives after the first quarter. First quarter was solid, still have to play 45 minutes of game time after that. Your offense was only able to stay on the field for 12 of those 45 minutes against the second (maybe third if they are better than UTSA) worst defense you will play against all season (even worse than Arkansas' going in). Not getting a 3 and out doesn't mean you helped your defense. Like going for it on 4th down at midfield at the end of the half when Florida was also gonna receive the ball to start the 3rd. Tackling was bad all day, it has generally not been good most of the season. There is no defense that can play 33 minutes on the field in the last 45 minutes of the game and be successful. Part of it was on them, especially the first drive of the second half. That largely happened because the offense and play caller gave Florida momentum at the end of the half by gifting Florida a short field. The original drive chart presents facts, not opinion or analysis.
  16. In 3 SEC games so far: 3rd and 1-3: 7 run attempts, 4 conversions = 57% 4th and 1-3: 10 run attempts, 5 conversions = 50% Runs up the middle: 8 attempts, 4 conversions = 50% By team: Tennessee: 2/2 conversion rate on run plays on 3rd and 4th down with 1-3 yards to go. OU: 1/2 Florida: 2/6....A clear uptick in runs up the middle on 3rd and 4th and short. Runs up the middle for these three games: 4/8 with a net of -4 yards rushing on the 8 plays. Passing play calls on the same down and distances: Tennessee: 0, Oklahoma: 1/3, Florida: 0/1 Overall predictability on second and third down: Second-down predictability 2nd and 1-2: Run % = 100% 2nd and 3: Run % =75%, Pass % =25% 2nd and 4+: Run % =45%, Pass % =55% On second and 3 or less, Texas ran 86% of the time. Third down predictability: 3rd and 1-3: Run % =64%, Pass % =36% 3rd and 4+: Run % =32%, Pass % =68% On third and 3 or less, Texas ran 64% of the time. 4th down: 4th and 1-3: Run % =100%.... 33% success rate Combined third and fourth and short: Texas ran on 10 of 14 plays (71%), converting 5 of those 10 rushing attempts (50%).
  17. Time of possession against Florida: Florida: 38:11 Texas: 21:49.....Good lord. Texas' drives that lasted for more than 2 minutes: 6/11 (one of them was because of that big play where the refs missed an egregious hold, lets be real). Texas drives after the first quarter (again): 3 plays, 2 yards, 01:15 off the clock, Punt 8 plays, 46 yards, 02:44 off the clock, turnover on downs at midfield (omitted 1 play, 4 yards at the end of the first half) 3 plays, 6 yards, 01:22 off the clock, Punt 3 plays, 2 yards, 01:55 off the clock. Punt 5 plays, 20 yards, 02:10 off the clock, Turnover on downs at midfield again 6 plays, 75 yards, 02:01 off the clock (Bad missed holding call on Sianni). TD, only points after 06:42 left in the first quarter. (besides the punt return TD) 2 plays, 7 yards, 0:34 off the clock, fumble Total after the 1st quarter: 30 total plays, (4.29 plays per drive), 158 yards (about 1/3 from that missed hold big pass play to Mosley)...without that drive= 83 yards total after the first quarter 12:01 time of possession total FOR THREE QUARTERS.... 1:43 average time of drive For three quarters of football against one of the very, very worst defenses in the SEC: Excluding the touchdown drive featuring the (blatantly) missed holding call, the offense produced 83 yards on 24 plays across six possessions, averaging 13.83 yards per drive and scoring zero points. Even with that drive, very not good.
  18. I think today I am going to see how often the 3rd and 4th down and shorts are run plays up the middle. Seems like any time first down isn't successful, it is almost always a run play on 2nd down. Very predictable
  19. There is no chance of forcing anything on Sark. I feel like it is quite obvious he would leave if told to get an OC.
  20. I will say, I thought the OU game was bad in the second half. Then I went through the actual drive chart and had a physical reaction....Since Sark wanted to talk about finishing, here are our drives in the second half against OU....Brace yourselves: 4 plays, 24 yards, 1:24 off the clock, punt 3 plays, 8 yards, 1:20 off the clock, punt 3 plays, 9 yards, 2:21 off the clock, punt 3 plays, 2 yards, 1:39 off the clock, punt 2 plays, 3 yards, 1:15 off the clock, Pick 6 7 plays, 75 yards, 3:35 off the clock, TD 7 plays, 38 yards, 2:49 off the clock, missed field goal 4 plays, 27 yards, 0:35 off the clock, INT 8 total drives for: Total plays: 33 Total Yards: 186 Total Time of Possession: 14:58 (thanks to the pick 6 and TD drive after) Average plays per drive: 4.13 Average yards per drive: 23.25 Average time off the clock per drive: 1:52 4 punts 2 INTs (1 pick 6) 1 TD 1 missed FG Scoring drives: 12.5% On to Florida, I promise
  21. I would imagine that it very well could go national
  22. I would say requiring teams to play 10 (or even 11) "Power 4" games is all for show. Let's be honest, ACC, Big 12 and Big 10 have about 10 decent teams combined. Playing Purdue, Colorado, etc. is not actually much easier than Boise, Tulane, Oklahoma State, etc. The power 4 is simply an illusion. I'd take 3 or 4 AAC teams over about half of the Big 12 and ACC at this point.
  23. I know the general sentiment has been that you don't change coordinators (even special teams) in the middle of the season. That being said, imagine if Florida makes a big play on special teams again this week. Now imagine that somehow that special teams play makes the game close. I am not sure the firestorm from fans (and donors) would allow for Banks to stay in charge of special teams (at least officially). Surely the odds of giving up a ST touchdown three games in a row is beyond miniscule, but somehow it doesn't feel like it would be shocking?
