  1. I'd take any RBs in top Texas 10 over Davison. California pansies can't hang.
  2. If the boy doesn't think he can crack the line-up at Texas, then what does he think he'll do in NFL? Arch is waiting. Does Davison thinks he's gotta go as freshman? Jesus. He's nothing to us. Hose him.
  3. Playing time? If he doesn't think he can get on the field at Texas, then how does he think he'll do in the NFL? I'm saying the boy's a pansy. Rickey ain't no pansy.
  4. Pansies need to man up. If you can't man up, you got no business at Texas.
  5. Does that mean Davison didn't want to compete with the guys at Texas? What do these guys expect? Do they want win or just pretend?
  6. Real baseball guys. This was legendary in the 80s when I was a kid. Bob Uecker is priceless.
  7. I like it. Based on Damonic Williams and now Jordan Davison, I think you can say that Sark is staying true to his word. He's not overpaying, and he's not willing to risk team chemistry. Texas could pay these guys and get them, but it's more important to keep the locker room on an even keel. We're talented enough to compete at the highest level.
  8. Williams is a piece of work. I'd take Daniels or Maye over him because he's such a flake. Since this is a Texas draft thread, I'll add that I'd take Ewers and certainly Arch over Williams in the NFL too. A lot the things Williams got away with in college, like extending the play and holding the ball, aren't likely to translate in the NFL.
  9. If it's the Falcons GM who signed Cousins to 180 million deal, and then turned around and drafted Penix number eight, that wants Sanborn, I'm not sure it's a very good sign.
  10. I always liked Harbaugh until recently. Watching him at Michigan when I was a kid until a couple of years ago, he seemed like a good football guy, hard worker, etc. Even the NCAA going after him for the recruiting violations during the Covid period struck me as silly. What changed my mind is that he just seems to have become slimy. Playing the victim when he knows they're guilty as sin, taking cheap shots in the media, seemingly acting as if he's lost all sense of propriety. Maybe that stuff was there before and I just didn't know it.
  11. Many are not so quiet about saying they expect to win nine or ten and compete for the playoff. That's pretty fanciful. They are much more likely to falter a little with Arnold and win six than they are to have everything break their way and win nine.
  12. I'd bet better than even odds the criminal interlopers lose to the Vols and Tide at home. They lose on the road to Ole Miss, Missouri and LSU. Neutral sight loss to the Horns. Toss up on the road at Auburn. Freeze is pretty flaky too.
  13. Thoughts on the SEC coming out of spring ball. I'm not nearly as high on Ole Miss and Missouri as many who seem to be giddy about the prospect of Alabama dropping. Kiffin has never proven he won't flake out at some point during the season, and Missouri lost quite a bit. I also think DeBoer is as good of a tactician as we have in college football. I'll list a top ten and see what others think. 1. Georgia 2. Texas 3. Alabama 4. Ole Miss 5. LSU 6. Tennessee 7. Missouri 8. A&M 9. Auburn 10. Oklahoma
  14. As a Cowboys fan, I love Deion. But I'll take Prince in Nothing Compare to You.
  15. Forty years ago. We were ten. Can't beat it.
  16. Obviously Arnold's development and consistency will be key. I'm sure Bedenbaugh will have the line technically proficient and assignment sound, but that's not enough when you are playing against future NFL D-linemen. It seems likely that the criminal interloper fan base will progressively fume to the boiling point as Gabriel plays well at Oregon and Arnold struggles against SEC defenses. Perhaps the light will come on for Arnold, but it's more likely he gets chased around and has quite a bit of trouble. If they lose the SEC opener to the Vols in Norman, it's hard to see how they win any SEC games other than their home game against South Carolina. Maybe on the road at Auburn, but that's not easy either.
  17. I'd rather have Russell than Lacey. He's bigger, stronger and more athletic.
  18. Based on the problems the secondary has experienced the past three years, you'd want DB coaches that can teach consistent communication and proper technique for various situations, alignments, angles, etc. I will say that reports on the DBs this spring were quite positive until the actual spring game. There's a good chance that the mix and match element of the game created most of the problems. However, it's not unreasonable to say the coaches should have the guys prepared to play in various personnel groups. You don't want to overreact, but these are the same problems, so you can't help but be concerned.
  19. Listening to the SoonerScoop post spring game wrap, you could definitely tell there is some frustration with Venables. They basically called him out for lying about why they didn't see some guys. They indicated they would rather him just not comment than lie to them. More good news is that Arnold still hasn't shown he can consistently perform. Only 50% completions, and almost all of his passing yards were to one guy. Looking like "OU sucks" may be truer than it's been since the 90s.
  20. Bobby, you guys need to go live from there.
  21. Seems like the Longhorns have cooled on Griffin the last month or so.
  22. This is great stuff. With Bo and Rickey committing in the last week. These are the kind of young men you love and want in your program.
  23. Having a completely new offensive line and an inexperienced QB that was a turnover machine in his only start doesn't seem like a recipe for success or optimism entering the SEC. Some of the criminal interloper fans think their defense will be elite, but that doesn't seem likely either. Statistically, their defense wasn't that great last season. Even if the defense is a good bit better (a big "if" since Venables will have a much more difficult time stealing signs now), it may not show on the field or statistically because of the improved competition they will be facing. Maybe it all comes together and they are actually pretty good, but that would likely come down to luck, which isn't what you want to count on. Realistically, seven wins seems about right, which is what Vegas has for them. If that plays out and Venables is pushed out, they'll be worse off than they were when Venables was hired. If that happens, as I said before, the administration will essentially be saying he's just not the guy.
  24. Barring a complete collapse, I think it would be a mistake to can Venables. That said, I am experiencing some schadenfreude with the problems the criminal interlopers have. Soonerscoop admitted they have no offensive line, and Jackson Arnold isn't exactly looking like a world beater this spring. They then said they still think something like nine wins. That's code for they know their looking at six or seven wins.
