  1. The IU thing is strange. They weren't anything before Bobby Knight, and they haven't been anything since Bobby Knight.
  2. For the geniuses who argue Terry wasn't "supported" enough: Are any of them willing to claim that another P4 program will hire him as HC, set him up with a high level budget, and then wind him up and let him go?
  3. What's the scoop on Beard to IU?
  4. If only Terry had more resources. Doubtless the Longhorns would be playing hard, winning big, and in general looking like $17 million.
  5. Speaking of the criminals hiring Nagy as GM, it seems like a potentially good move in terms of taking roster management await from Venables, something he's obviously not very good at. The problem is that if you fire Venables in the next year or two (likely), it will be difficult to convince a high level coach to take the job if Nagy has final say over the roster, which appears to be the deal.
  6. I thought Helm looked like he played as fast or faster than JT Sanders. It'll be interesting to see if he runs better at the Texas pro day.
  7. I'll add that all this Tre Johnson love talk is overblown. He's very good. He's not some kind of generational talent. Doesn't play defense. Can't finish. Doesn't usually pass well. Holds the ball too long. That's something you can say Terry isn't necessarily screwing up.
  8. Who's talking top five? We're asking for competitive results against teams with similar talent. I ain't believing crap on all this talk about lack of spending until we have confirmed numbers. Again, if we're truly eighth or ninth in spending, we still aren't performing that well. We're thirteen in the conference.
  9. The "not enough money" argument doesn't stand up. It was claimed Texas is in the middle of the pack in SEC basketball spending. Even if that's true (haven't seen confirmed information), Texas isn't in the middle of the pack in the SEC standings. How are we supposed to view that?
  10. It only applies to spring portal transfers.
  11. Gave him a shot based off a tournament run. No one forced him to take it. He could have called it insulting and went on his way.
  12. Good means nothing to me. You can say whatever. I know nothing about Beard. You don't either.
  13. I was taught to not worry about others. I don't care about Warren Buffett. I care about what I know.
  14. The ethics is I can't guarantee profit. I remember a financial advisor telling me I couldn't expect more than five percent a year. I told him the market advances more than that per year. He told me to open a Fidelity account and trade on my own then. That's what I did.
  15. Motivation isn't a consideration in my view. I trade what I want.
  16. You might be better than me at it. I make a comfortable living, but I'm not willing to risk others' money. Plus I don't want to get a broker's license.
  17. Yes. I don't work with anyone's money but my own. I consider it unethical to play with other people's money,
  18. I trade stocks for a living. Market up or down doesn't matter to me. I make money either way. I "trust" the technical movements of the market. I don't know what Beard did or didn't do.
  19. You can't trust anyone absent proof. That's the reality.
  20. This is what I learned at the University of Texas while studying science, literature, history and mathematics.
  21. Why can't you understand that trust has nothing to do with this? Only idiots trust anyone. In the absence of positive proof, there's nothing to "believe."
  22. Do you know that Beard shoved or hit a woman? You don't know what the university uncovered anymore than I do. If they had clear evidence, the DA would have had the same clear evidence. Stop trying to play god and admit you don't know. Texas fired Beard. It's too late to do anything about it now. Again, they can fire whomever they want. But when we're talking about wins and losses because of it I can opine as much as anybody. I hope someone takes CDC to the woodshed over it in the their silly meeting this week.
  23. How many times are you going to say "brilliant?" Can you provide an argument for why firing Beard wasn't political? The man wasn't charged. Accuser recanted accusation. Is that "brilliant?"
  24. It's true an employer can do what they want in the state of Texas. I wouldn't have any other way. There ain't no "despite" in terms of determining the truth. Texas fired Beard. It was a mistake. Not only because they hired a hack to replace him, but because they don't know what really happened and responded to pressure that wasn't based in epistemic reality. If your standard is accused means a man should be fired, then you got your wish. We suck now. We suck because we fired a man without waiting for due process. Congratulations.
