Look if you give up on your team because you aren’t first team then that is very much a character/egotistical issue. I’m not sure how removed from 20 you are, but they are adults and should be held accountable. Also, If we are using age legality as an example, they are legally allowed to die for our country, which is a bit more adult than drinking a beer.

Texas wrapped up summer workouts Friday with a full game scrimmage. Two 20 minute halves, refs and coaches on both sides. Matas led all scorers with 28. Punch had an impressive all-around performance Amari Evans had his best workout as a Texas Longhorn. Isaiah Johnson was really good. Bo Ogden hit three 3's, and a couple of big one's late. Texas hit a lot of 3's ... they got on a little heater (not what the norma will be for this team.

That’s rich on so many fronts. First of all you’re conflating competitiveness with character. And second, 20 is absolutely still a kid, hence “good kid.” If you think I need to “grow up” for calling out people dogging on kids that can’t even have a beer legally yet, then that’s for you to reconcile within yourself.

If Sark wants the kid on the team then he shields the player. we knew before the practice there was an issue with him and they didn’t mention any of those other players having that same issue so it’s not that difficult.

Fair points, but NIL and the 5‑for‑5 rule don’t really explain a non‑injury absence. Guys don’t miss practice because they’re thinking about forfeiting a year -- they miss for team, personal, academic, or discipline reasons. Until he’s actually out there, it’s still a ‘let’s see what this actually is’ situation.

He'll be on the team this season. With the new 5 years to play 5 rule, he'd lose a whole year of pay. He's not passing up up whatever NIL he's receiving to sit out. And he's too important to the depth for the coaches to let him walk
