ESPN's Greg McElroy breaks down his top 10
Sanka Decaf replied to Gerry Hamilton's topic in On Texas Football Forum
I thought his reasoning was fine. He's right, it's a brutal schedule and a lot has to go right just to survive that schedule, particularly the long stretch of games without a bye. For a number of teams, he said essentially the same thing "they could win it all . . ." but, I also agree - who cares. This ranking, whether 1 or 7 or unranked, isn't going to help us win any actual games and doesn't matter. If we're undefeated when we get to the first CFP ranking, this takes care of itself. -
ESPN Bill Connelly's FINAL PRESEASON SP+ RANKINGS
Roysterr replied to Jerky's topic in On Texas Football Forum
We are home, it's at night and Longhorns are use to the Texas heat. (Remember LSU cramping up all over the field in 2019) Also, these teams are very even, X factor could be Arch's legs. (make something out of nothing) -

AP pre-season rankings are coming on Monday, and I'm curious where people think we'll land. Coaches poll has at 4, SP+ has us at 6, and Joel Klatt and Solid Verbal has us at 7. The national conversation seems to be that we have a crazy high ceiling, but there are more questions to answer and a much harder schedule than the teams in front of us (except Ohio State, maybe). To me, 4 seems reasonable, but I'm guessing voters will put us at 6 or 7. Where do y'all think we'll land? Hook 'em!

Hate to see it ! Wish him a full and speedy recovery.

22 Days Until Kickoff: The Number Is Retired For A Reason
DRAG69 replied to Blake Munroe's topic in On Texas Football Forum
Billy Dale scored the winning TD against Norte Dame to clinch the 1969 National Championship. I was sitting on the ten yard line about 15 rows up so it was right in front of me as was the huge diving fourth down catch by Cotton Speyer before the score. Don’t forget Jim Hudson either. 1963 National Champion and 1969 Super Bowl Champion for the Jets. -
As exciting as it is to get all the camp updates, every day I log on here and dread seeing a “Note on _____” post. These preseason injuries are awful.

Jayden Daniels is a real A-hole
Tuco Ramirez replied to Gerry Hamilton's topic in On Texas Football Forum
High profile individuals (and community colleges) need to turn to PR firms before lawyers. Lawyers might win the battle, but these maneuvers ensure that you lose the war from a reputation point of view. The one fan base that would support Daniels has now turned against him and the rest of the football world is just laughing at him. Idiot. -

Jayden Daniels throwing a legal tantrum over a jersey number is pure diva meltdown. LSU didn’t retire No. 5 because one great season doesn’t make you Joe Burrow, and Jayden acting like DJ Pickett wearing his old laundry somehow erases his “legacy” is the most insecure thing a Heisman winner has ever done. If a sophomore corner can undo your place in LSU history, maybe that place wasn’t all that solid to begin with.

ESPN's Greg McElroy breaks down his top 10

We deserve to be at 7 after last year. Arch inaccuracy, Florida loss, Kentucky OT, Miss St OT, Vanderbilt close win.....it was an ugly season last year for a preseason #1. Make us prove it -

Joel Klatt has us 7 too. That’s fine, we’ll prove em wrong. -
Today’s countdown takes us to No. 22 and this one starts with one of the true legends in Texas Football history. Bobby Layne is the headliner here for obvious reasons. A two-time consensus All-American, College Football Hall of Famer, Pro Football Hall of Famer and one of the most important players to ever come through Austin. He threw for 3,145 yards and 25 touchdowns at Texas, went 28-6 as a starting quarterback, helped lead the Longhorns to the 1945 SWC title and eventually had his No. 22 retired by the university. Behind Layne, Selvin Young gave the number a strong modern-era representative. Young finished his Texas career with 1,713 rushing yards and 25 touchdowns, averaged 4.7 yards per carry, scored three return touchdowns and was part of the 2005 national championship team. Billy Dale rounds out the group from the Darrell Royal era. Dale was part of back-to-back national championship teams and scored the game-winning touchdown against Notre Dame in the 1970 Cotton Bowl, one of the biggest plays of that championship run.

Arch mic’d up at practice
Deep in the heart replied to hookem1014's topic in On Texas Football Forum
I noticed that too. It's like they can't read subtitles or are deaf. Milwee clearly told him to throw it high and Arch said that was for the camera. People just look for a reason to trash that kid. It's pathetic. -

We have some serious talent on offense this year. I much prefer thinking prognosticators are under estimating us. I knew last year everyone was being far fetched. After bouncing back and building momentum last year I do feel we have a roster that could go all the way if things fall our way and we make our own “luck”. -

Yep. 180 pound deep safety. But ridiculous playmaker in HS. Narduzzi has eye eye and development for those type of defensive players for sure. Biles senior HUDL: http://www.hudl.com/v/2J9Cqg
