Texas is finished. -11 for round 2. -12 over all. 2nd place. 8 shots behind Auburn. -
https://www.texastech.edu/board-of-regents/bio-heath.php This is the kind of student TT has been trying to attract. As for his role as the student on the Board of Regents it expires tomorrow, or I would have written to him and asked for his vote to end this self immolation, which, of course, is the stepchild of the Board Chair.

Kirby Smart, Joe Z, and Cody Campbell walk into a bar

@Joe Zura you should take it as an honor that Kirby thinks you’re a freak. -
TT has been upgrading its academic rep. For example, it has been attracting national merit finalists with full ride scholarships. But now, with this corrupt tail wagging the dog the school has suffered a blow to its reputation that may set back its image for a decade. This is a damned shame. America and Texas need more reputable and affordable engineering schools. Football wasn't ever going to add to TT's quietly improving reputation but it didn't have to sully it, which it has. I think TT's President deserves to be fired, immediately.

Apparently he was paying other people to make bets for him—which is evidence he knew it was wrong—and was under the legal age in Indiana when he made the bets. So the people who made the bets could be responsible also. Betting on your team can also be illegal if it involves score fixing. Some Arizona basketball players went to prison for the point shaving part of it and conspiracy to fix the outcome. Not saying that is involved, but the magnitude of his bets on his own team just look terrible. There has to be a consequence for him betting on his team for the sake of the integrity of the game. Not getting to play College sports seems like a slap on the wrist as a penalty.

You have to think they released this knowing that either the authorities already have all of this evidence or he has already arranged plea deals and the eligibility question is the only thing keeping him from being able to play. I don’t have any idea what the potential criminal penalties are for this, but it would certainly be difficult to plead not guilty considering he’s admitted to the evidence. Of course they can try the mental illness angle in criminal court also.

For the second year in a row, Texas is in the winner's bracket of the Austin Regional, facing a team it lost to in a midweek game during the regular season. This year, it's Tarleton State, which beat the Longhorns 6-1 on March 17 at Disch-Falk Field. Texas will send Dylan Volantis to the mound against the Texans, who will counter with 6-foot-9-inch, 240-pound RHP Ethan Wendel (6-3, 5.64 ERA). The game will be streamed live on ESPN Plus.

You absolutely have to ask if he placed these bets with inside information. If so, he committed a crime. Twice. And community college is trying to sweep this under the rug.
-
Because he may have also been breaking the law at the same time. I think that would make his friends accessories to the crime(s), but I’m not a lawyer.

I remember seeing a report that he bet the under on yards for the QB at Indiana. https://www.espn.com/college-football/story/_/id/48909854/sorsby-placed-least-40-bets-indiana-football-hoosiers-qb from the article : "Sorsby, who appeared in 10 games and made seven starts at Indiana in 2023, said he was unaware of an October 2022 bet on the under for Indiana's quarterback passing yards or a September 2023 bet on the under for the first half of a Hoosiers football game."

According to the article most recently released by the Athletic, he was not only betting on his team but also AGAINST his team. This should be the nail in the coffin

Could Tech actually be hiding a bigger fish who is gambling?
-
Maybe this has been released but I haven’t bothered to search for the details. What I want to know is his exact vets. If he bet he was going to throw for 500 yards then I am not as concerned as if he bet that a WR would have 6 receptions for 50+ yards. Begay I am reading so far makes me think of insider trading.

Texas Tech: The Faces of Desperation
THookem replied to Bobby Burton's topic in On Texas Football Forum
Has anyone specifically asked if Joey has bet on games? -
Community college appears to have made at least one materially false statement in point 1 where they indicate he only bet on his team to win. Other press reports indicate he placed two prop bets against players on his team. Makes you wonder what steps the NCAA might take against them. This goes beyond a lack of institutional control. This is institutional acceptance and justification (and perhaps collusion. They are saying the same thing Sorsby and his lawyers are saying) of multiple direct violations of agreed upon rules. In fact community college just 6 months ago voted to strengthen the very rules they are now arguing against. Any NCAA disciplinary actions taken against the university won’t be covered by antitrust.
