Betting against your own team with insider information may constitute fraud. We don’t know if he did that, but we do know he took the under twice. Law enforcement should be looking at that. Also moving large sums of money to other people with the goal of evading law enforcement could be a financial crime.

If he really is able to get a multi-year addiction under complete control after a few weeks, was it really an addiction in the first place? Just amazing that it's viewed as helpful to put this young man back into the sports environment that he bet on. Maybe the NCAA needs to say they will give him one more year of eligibility NEXT year if he wins the appeal, but he sits out this year to get more assistance with the addiction. Not something anyone thought of before because it seemed like a slam dunk win for the NCAA.

I am sure you are right, I clearly don't know, hence the question, but why don't they do what they always do and charge him with a boat load of stuff and then plead it out to community service if he forfeits his season? I mean they force people into pleas all the time.

Totally with you - Campbell’s statement really does read like that. The whole ‘broken system’ line feels more like posturing than anything grounded in reality

SMU got ripped off in the 80’s. They should have bought a local Dallas judge, As crooked as they were they followed the NCAA’s death penalty ruling. SMU makes Campbell look like the crook he is .
