Chendall Weaver suing for additional year
Gerry Hamilton replied to hookem1014's topic in On Texas Football Forum
I don't think they will win, guess if my initial thought. People have asked about Jordan Pope and Weaver. If they were granted an extra year, it wouldn't be Texas. Texas already has a minutes issue they will be balancing for a lot of the season because of the talent at guard and wing on the 2026-27 team. Texas doesn't have the spot for a guard, if any of the guys appealing from any school won a year. Isaiah Johnson is the team runner/PG that will command 29-30 mins. Austin Goosby is playing starter minutes, Mikey Lewis is playing starter minutes, Amari Evans is a terrific 4th guard as a top notch defender that will be improved offensively in year two in the SEC ... all minutes in backcourt are eaten up but really good players that fit very well together in their roles. Then the wing is Elyjah Freeman starter minutes, and Bo Ogden as a very important shooter/floor spacer with rebounding ability in his role in year one. We're talking three future NBA draft picks for sure, and three others that will be pro players on some level long term.- 1 reply

Sounds like a great pickup.....one wonders if Gasparino had positive things to say about his time at Texas and if that had any influence on his decision to pick Texas - Today

Ismael Camara Starting to Recruit
TexasFanatic replied to CJ Vogel's topic in On Texas Football Forum
ehhh i disagree. Texas has a chance to sign four of the top 10 or so recruits in the country. Camara will end up top 10 (if not 1) -
I'm not sure there is any measure (other than physical size) that indicates Brian Jones was superior to Britt Hager. I didn't think that Jones should have been given the #60 at the time, but I was super fired up as a kid when Jones transferred to Texas from UCLA. He was a physical freak (6'3", 260# at 4.5) before they grew on trees. But Hager was indisputably a better LB. Man, Hager was a tackling machine. Especially against A&M, Hager was an absolute beast in '87 and '88. Just gutting through it. I think he is still and probably always will be the all-time leader in tackles at the University. I like players getting to use the #60 from time to time. I'm not a fan of retiring numbers when their names can be immortalized in the stadium. *I should have my eyes checked. When I first looked at the graphic I saw Jones, but not Hager! Getting old is fun

I know they aren’t the same sport, but I’m afraid the US will most always fail in a World Cup because our best athletes play baseball, football, and basketball. I still wanted us to win more…they were better than last night’s game. But hesitant, unsure, undisciplined soccer doesn’t win.

Can’t wait them to get the pitchforks out and fire Lincoln. -
It’s also wild the range of narratives about him between recruiting sites 😆

Know this is not what the thread is about but in the Wishbone days. VY at QB, Earl at FB, Bijan and Charles at halfback. This thread brings to light haw many great RB we have had . Had some great ones way back in my day like Saxton and Gilbert. Chris Gilbert was a great college RB back in his day.

We’re 60 days away from Texas football and this is one of the strongest groups in the entire countdown. Tommy Nobis is clearly the headliner. National champion, Outland Trophy winner, Maxwell Award winner, two-time All-American, three-time First-Team All-SWC, No. 1 overall NFL Draft pick, College Football Hall of Famer and one of the few Longhorns to have his number retired. He’s not just the best No. 60… he’s one of the greatest players in Texas football history. But the rest of the group is stacked too. Johnny Treadwell was a unanimous All-American and one of Texas’ great two-way players. Britt Hager is still the program’s career tackles leader with 499. Jeff Leiding was a consensus All-American and leader of that nasty 1983 defense. Robin Sendlein was a team captain and forced-fumble machine. Brian Jones helped lead the 1990 SWC title team and had a huge season at linebacker. Nobis stands alone at the top, but No. 60 has a ridiculous amount of linebacker history behind it.
