Azua, Swan, and Torres would be a hell of a portal haul without going overboard like Tech has and risking too many players leaving. The possibility of being a contributor to a 3-peat and playing close to home as opposed to just chasing the biggest offer has to be appealing to them. We’ll see what happens.

I second this. I tend to root for them to pull it together before posting negatively. But I've been yelled at before saying that's what the forums are for lmao 🤷🏿♂️

Agreed, @tsip92

Has Texas had a better sports week than 5/31 thru 6/6??? Probably not. Sun 5/31 Texas Rowing wins Natl Championship AND Texas Baseball sweeps Austin Regional. Thur 6/4 Texas Men's Golf ties for 3rd in Natl Championships AND Texas Softball sweeps Texas Tech for National Championship. Sat 6/6 Texas wins first game against Oregon in the Austin Super Regional. One more win puts them in their 39th (Thirty-Ninth!!!) CWS. And I don't know where we stand in outdoor track & field. Just a GREAT week.

90 Days Until Kickoff: Who Was The Best No. 90?
TTaylor2135 replied to Blake Munroe's topic in On Texas Football Forum
Hell of a list, thanks Blake. -
I am hearing Texas is in the mix as well. Apparently the top three are Texas A&M, Texas Tech, and Texas. She isn’t looking for just the most money. She’s looking for the best culture as well. I found it interesting because all those schools return their middle infield. Texas Tech returns Toney at shortstop and Mia Williams at second base. Texas A&M returns KK Dement at shortstop but has second base open. Texas returns Vivi Martinez at shortstop but has second base open. Her sister Marianna left Texas A&M when Ford was there. Also Samantha Swan and Isa Torres played high school ball together at Georgetown which is about a 35 minute drive from Austin. They could possibly want to play close to home. Just like Madison Azua is from Round Rock which is closer at about 25 minutes from Austin.

I understand the sentiment but I’m not a fan of starting threads specifically to sh*t on our own players.

And they still won’t win. Maybe they should invest in a good coach instead. That’s when I will start to worry. Tech isn’t going to do anything more than they did last year. Last year was disgusting and diabolical. They have very few holes to fill. And, yes, I am very aware of the rumors. Speaking of rumors, there’s another school in Texas that will make things difficult for Tech regarding Isa. Tech isn’t the only one involved.

That’s two number 90s drafted in the 1st round. Will Sharma be the third? -

Some really good 90s from the past. -
What Texas tech is gonna do in the portal from what I heard who they’ve got targeted and even signed is absolutely disgusting and diabolical for the game. Hopefully Texas counters a little bit in the portal as well.

They changed the rules because of Shaq and Kobe together. Shaq was more dominant through stretches, but he wasn't as good of an all around basketball player. Not even in 2001. This is tangentially related. Here's Myles Garrett throwing out the first pitch for the Dodgers yesterday wearing a T-Shirt of Kobe pictured in 2001 with a Dodgers cap.

Gerry hit the nail on the head. In an era defined by physicality and the big man, Shaq was physically dominant. The most physically dominant player in NBA history, to the point he dominated Hall of Famers, from Mutombo to Ewing and down the line.

We’re down to 90 days until Texas football, which means today we’re looking at the best Longhorns to ever wear No. 90. This is one of the better numbers in the countdown, especially if you love defensive linemen. Rodrique Wright was a massive piece of the 2005 national championship team and finished his Texas career with 227 tackles, 42 tackles for loss, 17.5 sacks and six forced fumbles. Add in a consensus All-American honor, a Lombardi Award finalist nod and three All-Big 12 selections, and his résumé is hard to beat. Malcom Brown's 2014 season was one of the best by a Texas defensive tackle. He finished his career with 165 tackles, 29 TFL and 8.5 sacks, was a consensus first-team All-American, an Outland Trophy finalist, a Nagurski Trophy finalist and eventually became a first-round NFL Draft pick. Byron Murphy II's peak was ridiculous. In 2023, he was the Big 12 Defensive Lineman of the Year, a second-team All-American and first-team All-Big 12 selection. He finished his Texas career with 70 tackles, 15 TFL and eight sacks, then went No. 16 overall in the 2024 NFL Draft. The current No. 90 is DL Josaiah Sharma.

Shaq was the best player on the Lakers. He was the most dominant player in the NBA. The NBA changed the rules of defense because of Shaq.

He is definitely up and down. But situations really matter. He is much better when he comes in for a clean inning. It seems like when he comes in for high level situations like last night, he gets too amped up and overthrows, causing the control issues. That is why he didn't make it (and probably never will) in the closer role. But he had a couple of good outings recently, and I still think he can help us in the final push. I actually feel like if they had put him in to start the 6th, instead of trying to extend DV another inning, he probably would have been fine for an inning or two. But I also understand why they would want to ride DV as long as they could.

91 Days Until Kickoff: Who Is Your Favorite No. 91?

I'm with you, Alex; it's hard not to root for EB, he's a worker. -
Burns isn't calling his own pitches. Weiner calls the pitches. In the postgame, Schloss said the fourth ball on the first walk was called to be off the plate because the batter liked to chase. He didn't chase and the walk resulted. The second walk was on Burns. Schloss said it's on him to put Burns in better spots. That's him covering for his player, but it's true too. Knowing that Burns is a little wild under pressure, you must account for that. But you have to think about who else would you put in and who are you saving for another day.

Seems to be great for a batter. Then he starts to feel himself a bit after a K and loses it. It’s like clockwork lately. Quit messing with the off speed. He’s in to throw 97. Just throw 97!
