At this point, “expand the playoff” isn’t a policy discussion — it’s a trailer ESPN keeps running between commercials. 1) 16 is coming. Not because anyone found religion on fairness, but because the current setup keeps producing “wait… that team is out?” moments that are bad for credibility and great for programming. The only real suspense is whether they announce it as “listening to stakeholders” or “Phase 2 of the visionary roadmap we totally had.” 2) The 24-team crowd is basically asking for NFL vibes in a sport with wildly unbalanced schedules. More teams does reduce committee power, sure — but it also turns September into a suggestion and November into a seeding show. If you want “everybody gets a shot,” that’s fine, just be honest you’re buying more content, not protecting the regular season. 3) Record floors sound clean until you remember schedules aren’t. An 8–4 can be “mediocre” in one league and “survived a woodchipper” in another. The real problem isn’t “too many teams,” it’s “too few comparable résumés.” If you’re going to expand, do it with objective inputs so we’re arguing about football instead of vibes. 4) The fix is boring, which is why it’ll never be pure: Use a BCS-style blend (multiple polls + SOS + efficiency) to pick the field Keep a committee, but handcuff them to seeding only Minimize/avoid auto-bid gymnastics that reward conference branding over actual strength And let’s not kid ourselves: whatever format we land on, ESPN will still crank out an all-day symposium titled “Is Losing Actually Bad?” because the drama isn’t an unfortunate side effect — it’s the product they’re selling.

Mini update on Hero Kanu Junior defensive tackle Hero Kanu is one of the key member of the Texas team weighing the decision of whether to return to Texas for a final season of college ball, or head off to the NFL Draft. OTF exchanged messages with a source very close to Kanu. "We are in talks right now with all." That meant Texas, and getting a feeling where the 6-foot-5, 300-pounder could project if he enters the draft. Kanu walked on Senior Day, but that was more because his family was in Austin from Germany vs. having a decision on leaving. When asking the source what was the timeline for a decision, there isn't a date locked in. Kanu posted 31 tackles and two sacks in 2025.

My favorite part of Ewers' game was the way he feathered the ball into the running backs in the flat and how he hit WRs with short throws in stride. It's very easy to underestimate the value of perfectly hitting an receiver in stride. That split second saved by the RB's NOT having to adjust got a lot extra yards around the corner and throwing a WR open as opposed to throwing at him created hidden yards we'll probably never appreciate. Quinn had his weaknesses but that dude had touch I didn't appreciate until I saw Arch throwing the short stuff. Arch has his strengths but they are kind of the opposite of Quinn. Good luck Quinn!

Man I hope Quinn does well. Appreciate all he did for us, now go make yourself some money by showing you belong out there. 🤘

I’m a Bengals fan (long story) there are only 3 guys the oline/Quinn need to watch out for on their defense: Ossai:🤘having a career season, in a contract year, love to see it! Myles Murphy: has really come on as of late, but is still a bit inconsistent as a pass rusher Jordan Battle: safety, has been a really good contributor for bengals but under the radar since their defense as a whole is baaaddd Everyone else on defense is a JAG, or super inconsistent. Miami oline should be able to contain, and Achane should have a great day. Bengals offense hasnt been great since Burrow came back from injury. Really dont know what to expect from them. Hopefully having a new qb starting will give Dolphins defense some juice! -

This is the third of five All-American honors for Colin Simmons on teams officially recognized by the NCAA, which count toward consensus status.
