Nolan Cain Leaves Texas, Returns to Texas A&M
TexTheHorn24 replied to CJ Vogel's topic in On Texas Football Forum
I think part of it is that fans are seeing another Texas baseball coverage person crashing out on social media from another network. He’s saying there’s no money and a mass exodus coming. Might be scaring some folks. -

Jeff, you are being far too rational. You’re supposed to tell us that every good player on the roster is heading to CS, the last remaining funding for the baseball program is about to be pulled, and the Disch will be torn down soon. -

Come on guys - he took the easier job. Schloss said how hard it is to recruit the portal when you’re playing in Omaha. Why wouldn’t Cain go to College Station where his hands won’t be tied by any post season trips? Texas will be fine, and I assume Schloss had someone he wanted already lined up - see Oregon. -
I didn’t read what Jerry wrote yet but beating Aggie this year would make Elmo 0 and 3 against Texas with 2 losses in College Station. I think this might be his worst team in 3 years. (Still top 25 though) . It would be a huge meltdown in CS and Elko will not look like the guy anymore to Aggie fans.

The law of large numbers tells us that they will beat us here and there, but even if they do, they will never be us. -

I think they’re trying every way they know how to win and be relevant. But sometimes it’s more simple and straightforward. Recruit the best, hire the best coaches then get after it. And sometimes you need a little good fortune along the way. - Today

Definitely not off the top of my head. Especially with how much players are moving around and reclassifying in recent years. -

Aggy musings. Let's go back to a few years , Aggy has just learned that they have been betrayed by the SEC and that evil Texas has been invited and is going to be a new member of the Southeastern conference. In response aggy panics, screaming they had been promised to be the only Texas team in the conference. The howling is so sever that in retaliation they decide to spend Elon Musk type money to sign the highest rated class (2022) of all time just to beat the sips. Mercenary magic didn't work, Jimbo gone, Elko in! Fast forward to 2026. After losing the first two games vs Texas by double digits each with conference titles on the line and with two of their better teams. This time around they have to rebuild and are once again spending like a drunk sailor. #1 class, lots of 5 star hs recruits and should top what some have said too be more that 50 mil in NIL with hopes of stopping the bleeding and the day drinking. Gerry mentioned recently what life might look like in BCS for Elko if they go 0-3 vs the Longhorns. But I digress! Lets move to baseball shall we. Two years ago aggy is on the verge of a championship at the CWS. They come up short vs Tenn in the deciding game and two days later see their coach head to Austin to work for his friend CDC. Oh what a betrayal !! Wailing and nashing of teeth follow. Then aggy has to empty the bank account to keep key players from following Schloss to UT. BTW, did I mention that with those very expensive players they failed to make the NCAA tournament in year one and then looked uninterested a few weeks ago, getting crushed by USC in a home regional. Now, they are really big mad and going to get us back, running the table with big money for Football NIL to be #1 and today getting Cain to come back to the Brazos bottom for a big raise. Boy did they stick it to Texas ! A wise man once said, the aggy's don't want to just beat Texas. They want to BE Texas! They have Texas Derangement Syndrome (TDS) and I don't think its going to get better soon! There is no cure! Thoughts?

Random question: In your time covering recruiting has there been a time where one state had both the #1 & #2 players in the nation for football (Brewster & Meredith) and basketball (Spears Jr & Black) at the same time? I'm sure its happened for Florida, California or maybe Georgia but just curious about that. -

Pretty sure it can be a combination of both Rev Share and 3rd party NIL. May be some guys getting only RS , others both. Texas only has 13.5 million in Rev Share for football. So easy to see 3rd party does a lot of business if our payroll is in the 30-40 million range. And those 3rd party deals as of now still have to clear the Clearinghouse etc. And yeah have read monthly pay. And as stated above some signing bonuses etc. Be fascinating one day to see how it is really done, how each school figures out their path. Texas One Fund seems very well ran , and dependable as well as compliant.

Very good interaction and respectful disagreement. Thank you for that as well! -
Not sure but I think yes

That’s what I thought. So they are signing rev share deals. I wonder if NIL is separate through 3rd party?
