The absence of a true point guard against St. Johns was a big problem. Most teams can't pressure like SJ, but it's definitely a potential problem for this team if the guards don't improve their ball handling. It's not a coincidence that Pitino told Jon Rothstein in an interview a couple of days before the game that teams who think they can get away with combo guards rather than true point guards are living in a dream world.

Marcus spears will definitely start at some point this year and have ability to run the offense as a point forward. He is a modern day Michael beasley/Chris bosh type player. Will absolutely have the ability to play the 3 and be a better ball handler than most people have projected.

Well he's had plenty of time to find someone to run the offensive side of the ball and hasn't. So I'm just going off what he's said and his own actions. Now apparently someone told me he gave up play calling at USC but who really knows. I guess we'll see what happens in the off-season.

I've heard him say it other times even during the off season. He's even said it was the reason he got the job at Texas. I just don't see him giving it up, I've heard him say it too many times. You're also forgetting that Texas still owes him a large buyout and he could easily get another less stressful job if he wants. Just my two cents anyway.
