I've done some research and found out that newly signed special teams recruits Jake Collett and Mikey Bukauskas struggled through their senior seasons. Jake converted 9 out of 19 field goal attempts this season while also missing several PAT attempts. Mikey had a punting average of 35 yards per punt. Is this really scholarship-worthy?

People tend to look at records, then draw their conclusions. If you win, you are a good coach. If you lose, you are a poor coach. In the old days......ie, before UIL (and ignoring bagmen issues) this was probably a reasonable assumption. Sadly, today it isn't as much about coaching as it player purchases. I am an idealistic old man. It is hard to rationalize why a kid would go to SMU when they could go to Texas, or Stanford, or Michigan, etc. I rather image that there are folks in West Virgina regretting their decision.

Florida played 5 teams in the Top 13 and took them all into the 4th quarter. I really don’t think our loss to Florida was even as bad as Tech’s loss to ASU.
