I will say, I thought the OU game was bad in the second half. 24-team playoff nearly a reality
AustinsTruth replied to CJ Vogel's topic in On Texas Football Forum
I would say requiring teams to play 10 (or even 11) "Power 4" games is all for show. Let's be honest, ACC, Big 12 and Big 10 have about 10 decent teams combined. Playing Purdue, Colorado, etc. is not actually much easier than Boise, Tulane, Oklahoma State, etc. The power 4 is simply an illusion. I'd take 3 or 4 AAC teams over about half of the Big 12 and ACC at this point. -

Two perfect throws and catches in a row. Tip your hat. -
How did Wyoming only score 13 against that bunch? Oof,

I know the general sentiment has been that you don't change coordinators (even special teams) in the middle of the season. That being said, imagine if Florida makes a big play on special teams again this week. Now imagine that somehow that special teams play makes the game close. I am not sure the firestorm from fans (and donors) would allow for Banks to stay in charge of special teams (at least officially). Surely the odds of giving up a ST touchdown three games in a row is beyond miniscule, but somehow it doesn't feel like it would be shocking?

Relieved of duties and quit*

Was an impressive performance, but offensive output vs.Colorado State should be taken with a grain of salt. Worst defense in America with a defensive coordinator being relieved of duties and fired in the 2nd quarter of a game already this season.

Texas State Offense

We are 2 weeks removed from Kinne losing to a team that had a mumps outbreak and was missing half its starters. He is 13-13 between the Sun Belt and PAC12 He isn't going to be coaching in the SEC anytime soon. -
The Texas Defense Finishing Games

Sark should’ve said “I’m not looking at the defense they have a head coach I’m to busy trying to figure out why we can’t move the ball consistently on offense. We’ve got to be better in the other 2 phases so our super talented badass defense can feast.” -

The audacity, no matter what the question was, to say the Texas defense has to finish better.... The Texas defense gave up 3 points in the second half against Ohio State (Includes a missed field goal). If that isn't finishing a game, it isn't possible to. Obviously they gave up the 2 TDs in the second half against Tennessee (Oh wait, one was a punt return TD, shout out special teams), but I would say they did literally finish the game (because your special teams unit and coach are both terrible) by getting a stop after the onside kick recovery and not allowing a field goal chance. I wonder why the defense was not as good in the second half....Perhaps because the offense had 6 three and outs (-6 total on those SIX drives). Plus a drive that ended with an interception on the second play of the drive....So 7 drives that were three and outs or even less. All this combined to the defense still only giving up 7 points in the second half. Against OU, Texas lost the 4th quarter 17-7. Of the 17 points that Texas gave up in the 4th, 7 were from a pick six, 3 were from a 31 yard drive to walk it off after an interception. So, lets say the defense gave up 10 points. I wonder if 3 and outs played a role in that? 7 drives in the OU game were three and outs, 2 more resulted in interceptions (Pick 6 on the second play of the drive, game losing int on the 4th play of the drive), and 1 drive had a first down on the first play of the drive and then had to punt before moving the chains again. So 10 drives of 4 plays or less. (Only 15 drives all game). I do agree with Sark that technically the defense hasn't played its best in the 4th quarter the last two games...the reason is clearly because of the offense's inability to do anything (They still have only given up 17 points in the 4th quarter against Ohio State, Tennessee, and OU combined). I would love for someone to find me a team that had so many three and outs (or 4 and outs), turnovers, and special teams errors and the defense was still able to "finish" the game (basically requiring a shut out in the 4th).

Kinne ending up in CStat would require good decision making, something that area knows nothing about.
