The Dick Howser Trophy, the unofficial Heisman Trophy of college baseball, released its list of semifinalists yesterday and three Longhorns made the cut: Dylan Volantis, Aiden Robbins and Carson Tinney.

The Longhorns will go for the series win over the Tigers after last night's 6-3 win. The game will be streamed live on SEC Network Plus. Texas enters the game alone in second place in the SEC standings with a clear path to one of the four double byes in the SEC Tournament. Three critical games — Texas A&M hosting Mississippi State, Alabama hosting Ole Miss and Auburn hosting Georgia — will be in progress when the Longhorns start. The Mississippi State, Alabama and Georgia won their respective season openers last night and are going for series wins.

Clarington really wanted to play TE at Texas but just could not become academically eligible. That broke his heart.

I love the willingness to block. That's one of those things when evaluating tight ends – do they want to block. You can teach technique, you can teach the presnap approach to blocking. But unless you absolutely want to put your head in the chest of someone with 30 pounds on you, it's a tall hill to climb at the next level to become a plus-blocker.
