My gut tells me he cleans house on the offensive side of the ball. New OC/QB-guru, new OL coach, and new TE coach. I think he retains JabbarJuluke as RB coach and possibly Chris Jackson as the WR coach. I think he likes Austin and the Eleven Million too much to resign. Plus I think Sark is a winner and wants to win.I think he'll do whatever he needs to do to make that happen. Maybe I'm wrong about that, but I hope I'm not. I like Sark.
-
I disagree with this. The scheme is not that difficult or different from other RPO offenses. When you have an OL that cannot run or pass block well if a defense gets creative, and QBs who digress in their abilities over their UT tenure, then no scheme you give them, no matter how simple, is going to work.

I think there is a real disconnect between Arch and Sark. Not personally, but scheme-fit-wise. Arch is not a great fit for Sark's offense. I get the rumors that the Mannings want Arch to be that guy, a facilitator who can diagnose defenses and get the ball out. Arch isn't that guy, not yet. Does the Texas brass have the patience to allow Arch and/or Sark time? If Arch continues to run as he has, he is going to get KO'd, and he runs the real risk of KJ Lacey looking better.

I agree, what has gone on with the defense this year proves that the right hire in a coordinator can make a difference in production, even if the improvements are only marginal, but hiring a new OL coach, and possibly a new ST/TE coach has to be done.
-
This i didn't know. That's interesting. So someone already convinced him to give up the OC role. He must have been dissatisfied with how that turned out.
-
If Chris, Kevin, and Jim are good salesmen, I think they will convince him it's time to become a CEO and take care of all the details in the program that Saban always talked about, and bring a little accountability to all your coaches.

and IF we don't come out and play like we did vs OU
-
Wow, that would be an incredible revelation if true.
-
Wow, that's a doomsday prophetic post. Unfortunately, I share some of that same pessimism you feel. However, I see Texas going for a Bob Chesney/Curt Cignetti type of coach next time, and not a legacy like Major. R tried that before with McWilliams and it didn't turn out so well.
-
I guess the “bright side” for this is that defense went against Ole Miss, who is second on this list, and they seemingly held them in check for the majority of the game. Obviously, there are injuries now on that side that are more important, but we did that without Simmons, and he could be back this game along with the most important positions on defense still being healthy enough to go.
-
That's an interesting suggestion: splitting the O-line coaching duties. Has that been done before somewhere else?
-
That's troubling. I like the guy like I like Arch.I want them both to succeed.
-
I agree. His hubris might be his downfall.

You Are Sark...
Assistant Regional Manager replied to mmdaytontexas's topic in On Texas Football Forum
Nick Saban never “fired” anyone. He would just tell them to go find another job. It’s funny that the same people who claim Sark has some “huge ego” also believe he would walk as the head coach at Texas so he could go call plays at NC State or some such. That doesn’t compute. He’s going to do what it takes to continue being the head coach at Texas, even if it means having tough conversations. - Today

There are ways to do this whilst 'saving face' and keeping his agenda. An active set of eyes in the box upstairs is essential. The OL and ST coaches are, however, toast. The backsliding trends are affecting recruiting.
-
You think the people funding the program want more of Sark's offense? I'm just saying that outside of a miracle where this mediocre team wins out, there is zero chance that the decision makers sign up for more of the same on offense next year. In my opinion If Sark is back at all (not a given), it will be with an OC.

You are not wrong!!!

Already down to -2.5; I’d expect it to close near -1.
