Joe Zura replied to Lam Dinh's topic in On Texas Football Forum
I love Wisner and Baxter but Baxter will never be what he used to be poor guy cause I loved him but that was a serious injury, Wisner has the heart and will to but he isn’t big enough we need a downhill running back period it has screwed us for the last 2 years -

1. OL (At least two interior) 2. RB 3. DB/S 4. WR We're shelling out some serious dough on the guys sitting on the bench. The position is heavily dependent on Pass Blocking and QB play which this season has left a lot to be desired. Deandre Moore was hoping to go pro, no production to do so IMO, Wingo will either portal or return. Livingstone and Mosley are underclassmen. Then we have Lockett, McCutcheon, Ffrench all of whom should press for PT. OL needs to be tuned up on the interior. Tackles are fine. Full stop, the offense goes where it goes. -
Good Post— and that’s actually why I’m less panicked about the interior than some folks. Brooks has been cross trained at both guard and tackle, and everyone who’s watched him knows his ceiling is higher inside. He’s got the frame and the power for guard and moving him there stabilizes at least one spot immediately. When you line it up that way, the OL picture looks a lot more functional: LG: Brooks (best natural fit; cross-training pays off here) 😄 Robertson / Cruz (and yes, Cruz is probably a long-term center, not a guard) RG: Kibble (talent is there — consistency just needs to show up) Portal Guard to round it out If Neto gives you anything, that’s gravy. If Cojoe takes a leap at RT, that’s even more cushion. So yeah, Texas needs help at guard — but not because the cupboard is empty. It’s because guys like Brooks have been playing out of position out of necessity. Put him where he belongs, let Cruz grow at center, and add one veteran guard… and suddenly the “gulp” turns into “actually, this can work.”

1. WR (all we have are JAGS) 2. RB 3. OG 4. DB 5. OG -
Jimmy Sexton will be working hard to get one of his guys the job. Freeman does not use Sexton as his agent

I'm not saying the original report was true, but agents take calls ALL the time. Coaches always listen even if they have no intention of leaving. Sark loves college football. That is no secret. However, for the reasons you mention, it would be no surprise needing a break from the current college football grind. If I'm an NFL owner, I'm hammering home the life balance for his young family. The current college sports landscape is incredibly time-consuming and stressful. Even more so when you're the head coach at a large-brand, blue blood program like Texas. With the injection of NIL, the expectations are higher now. IF Sark left (a big if), I could see him returning to college later on when the landscape has settled down with regulation and his baby is older.

Chicken S**t Bingo at Ginnys Longhorn Saloon on Burnet Rd. Every Sunday evening. Google it. It's like a backyard party with a good band. As a first timer you definitely need to allocate as much time as you can for Bevo Blvd. pre-game.

2026 Texas 2 Deep Projection and Transfer Portal Wishlist
Jaybird replied to Lam Dinh's topic in On Texas Football Forum
Being realistic on this list, we need some major attrition. I hate to be the bearer of bad news, but if CJ Baxter is hampered by injuries, he needs to renegotiate his NIL to be more of a team player or he'll have to walk. We need to see a heavy rotation of Simon, Copper, Wisner (3rd Down), and an actual bruiser running back. Caden Durham is not in the same vein as say a guy like Jaquinden Jackson from last year's hogs' team. We had a solid run defense last year and he averaged 5.1 YPC on us. -

Stroh nor Neto are the answer at guard, probably a portal guard. Cujo will be the swing OT(lack of film because on injury therefore not a portal candidate ) Richard Wesley is a Jack edge and primarily backup to a Lance Jackson Hero Kanu to NFL, Lavon Johnson portal -

These are facts, not feelings. There is nothing emotional about this for me, I want Sark to stay, but I am not ignoring the signs. Fact: It is one of the weakest NFL coaching candidate pools in a long time. The elite candidates were all hired last cycle. Majority of candidates are all defensive oriented coaches/coordinators and the league trend is to go offensive, especially if you have a young qb (the 2 nfl openings BOTH have rookie qbs) Fact: As reported by OTF’s own Rod Babers, Sark has the NFL itch. All of us have said he would likely go after getting a title at Texas. Sark runs a pro style offense too…it is similar to Kyle Shanahan and Mike McDaniel. Which are very coveted schemes in the league Fact: Sark has had probably one of the most turbulent 12-24 few months in his personal life, going from separation, to reconciliation, to premature newborn baby. These are publicly known events that were reported by Sark and Loreal Sarkisian themself, on their social media platforms. If that is what is publicly known, can you imagine what is going on privately? Fact: Texas and Texas fans do not want Sark to go. Maybe some of you joke about it, but everyone wants it to work. The reality is, it takes two to tango. If the work-life balance is proving to be too much, and he has the desire to go, it would be perfectly reasonable to make a decision for yourself and your family to go another direction. (Jeff Hafley, DC for Packers, was HC at Boston College…He took a demotion 2 seasons ago to leave cfb for GB bc of the work life balance. Sark has a MUCH better resume, and since he calls plays, would likely not need to go OC route.) Not a fact, my own speculation: the calls are likely coming from inside the house. And there is way too much smoke to just ignore. Let’s hope for the best case for all parties. But there would be at least one team willing to hire Sark in the NFL. He has options, but Texas does too. (Again not fact just speculation)

Making the last 2 playoffs with an overrated roster? It’s this simple and it’s happened to anyone that’s ever truly invested in another human. He overly trusted flood, choice, and I’m guessing nansen with the akina hire. Losing both back end coaches eliminated continuity. I think his personal summer forced him to rely on his coaches to lift the team and they failed him. We can discuss how or why it got to this point but it’s nothing earth shattering. He trusted guys that have bled for him and it’s biting him. He is stubborn which is the case for most highly successful people as others are always trying to chip away at people doing well. He needs a dye in the wool consigliere that knows what they’re doing. Sark can argue that he still doesn’t have the players to run his system and stay overly grounded to it. It you’re sark, it’s probably easy to think that if I had an average but consistent oline and rb, this season shifts tremendously. The realization for him is that it’s not and those he values are the cause. What will he do? What I don’t know is the family situation. Pieces got out that his child was in peril over the summer. If this is remotely true, all bets are rightfully off. If there was any danger of losing their child, football and all other things can become very unimportant. Not sure where he is only because of this nor should I. Otherwise, he is as competitive and invested a coach that you’ll ever find. It would make all the bluster about a game frustrating for him and I’d fully appreciate it. That’s a ton of emotional weight and life events to navigate through especially for someone in recovery. Sark is very fiery so it makes sense when reporters try to gaslight him with inane things that he gets frustrated. There’s always someone that wants to prove he can ask THE question that no one else will fully knowing sark can’t answer it. Y’all hate on a couple reporters regardless of their questions so imagine sark, lol. If it’s child or football, zero choice. Family is always first though many seem to forget this. I’d wish him well and I would understand if the nfl having a lighter load is the route. If he is all in, keep him. He is walk around intelligent and not just football sharp. He’ll get it. -

I think N.Umeozulu and Cojoe probably hit the portal. Unless Cojoe wants to move inside to RG (which he probably doesn't). I think Baxter has had too many injuries to be considered reliable anymore and Wisner is good but will either try his luck in the draft or not be the main back at Texas next year. We don't have a true #1 RB right now, imo. Moore is also someone I could see trying his luck in the NFL regardless. Probably see a few other guys hit the portal, like Roberson and potentially a few other DB's, imo. Not sure what Cruz will do, will he challenge for the starting job at C or transfer? Rev sharing is going to get some dudes in the portal and paid elsewhere, imo. As for what we need or should get. 2-3 G's in the portal to create depth/competition there. Our interior needs to get better. I think Bobby or Gerry has mentioned we need an over the ball DT, as we lose both Shaw and Brevard. That would leave you with just Sharma filling that spot. 1 RB, if you want to run 12 personnel some pit fighters at TE who will actually hit someone and block. Maybe an experienced QB similar to Caldwell again? Defensively, besides the DT I mentioned up above, likely need 1 LB, 1-2 CB's depending on what happens there. 1 S. Potentially going for another K and P in the portal, too. -
Offense (2 deep) QB - Arch Manning (KJ Lacy) RB - CJ Baxter OR Tre Wisner WR - Emmett Mosley OR Ryan Wingo WR - Parker Livingstone (Kaliq Lockett OR Jamie Ffrench) WR - DeAndre Moore Jr (Daylon McCutcheon OR Jermaine Bishop) TE - Jack Endries (Nick Townsend) LT - Trevor Goosby (Nick Brooks) LG - Conner Stroh OR Neto??? C - Conner Robertson (Daniel Cruz) RG - Nate Kibble OR ??? RT - Brandon Baker (Andre Cojoe) Biggest Holes: LG, RG, and RB. We don’t have 1 starting caliber Guard on the team going into next year and we yet have 2 open starting spots (gulp). I think we need a bruising RB from the portal who has no injury history. The rest of the offense is going to better in 2026 with an extra year of experience. Defense (2 deep) DE - Colin Simmons (Colton Vasek OR Smith Orogpo OR Richard Wesley) DT - Alex January (Maraad Watson) DT - Hero Kanu (Lavon Johnson/Justus Terry) DE - Lance Jackson (Zina Umeozulu) LB - Tyanthony Smith (Leona Lefau) LB - Brad Spence (Bo Barnes) CB - Graceson Littleton (Warren Roberson) CB - Kade Phillips (Kobe Black) Star - Wardell Mack (Smoke Matthews) S - Derek Williams (Jonah Williams) S - Xavier Filsaime (Jordan Johnson Rubbell) Biggest Holes: CB and Safety. We need at least 1 starting level CB, maybe even 2. We also need 1 starting level safety, I don’t trust Filsaime. My Top 5 Transfer Portal Christmas List (from teams who have fired their coaches) 1. Roderick Kearney OG - Florida (started several games as SO this year, has NFL potential) 2. Ashton Stamps CB - LSU (12 PBUs in 2024) 3. Caden Durham RB - LSU (our new Jaydon Blue) 4. P4/G5 starting level OG 5. P4 starting quality Safety Who do you guys want most from the portal that isn’t going to completely break the bank?

Problem with PK is he has too much reliance on the passing game coordinator to handle the back end. Similar to his time at Washington with Lake. I think he's made massive strides in his time at Texas but Sark keeps hiring guys that don't mesh with PK very well at all. Akina is a perfect example. Akina is a man specialist. PK wants to run zone. The result is as we've seen. It took Joseph and PK 4 years to get on the same level with each other. Not sure who you'd hire to replace him (not saying I want to or you are) but it's an interesting hypothetical. For the experience these DB's have, the secondary should not be this bad, disjointed or not communicate. Makes no sense to me. -
