i apologize if this has been addressed somewhere else. i looked around a bit but didn’t see anything. we toured utk with our daughter today (great campus/friendly students and faculty - 75% of the kids on the tour were from Texas). one of the students we visited with told us that utk administration sent the students an email saying that, due to the increased security at the stadium, if you aren’t inside by 10am, there is a very good chance that you will miss kickoff. i figured that i would pass this along so my brethren in knoxville can plan accordingly. there are a ton of Texas fans here…never a surprise, but always fun to see. hook’em!

That was an extraordinary interview or whatever you want to call it. I could really identify with it. I'm much older than the Shipleys, but I also grew up in West Texas, with a brother 3 years older, and we both played sports every day of the year, went to church, and started college on basketball scholarships.

I don't know if anyone can possibly dislike them more than I do. I believe that 1976 tie with Oklahoma coming on the tails of the OU spying operation was the straw that broke for DKR. Texas went into that game as an underdog and outplayed OU in a fanatical defensive performance only to be tied in the closing minutes by an untimely fumble and a missed OU extra point. It was just sickening.

They will have 2 losses after tomorrow.

we need to shutem out yo FUN STAT Oklahoma went completely touchdown-less against Texas in both the 2024 game (Texas won 34-3) and the 2025 game (Texas won 23-6)

Dislike them way more than most, I lived through Switzer. But they have a good D and I remember us saying they were toast last year and they ended up in damn playoffs. We will see.

It’s not exactly a vote of confidence in your current situation if you’re literally having to change the entire philosophy of your offense three games into a season.

Venerables reminds me of Charlie Strong. Nice guy and a good DC but in WAY over his head as a HC.

Brent Venables is basically a reverse Lincoln Riley, except Venables did have a decent offense in year one and an elite offense in year two when the elite offensive recruits Lincoln Riley and his staff brought in were still there combined with having Jeff Lebby as their OC and Dillon Gabriel as their QB. Once all those guys left the program, the offense fell off a cliff. Safe to say, like Lincoln Riley with defense, as long as Brent Venables is a HC, Oklahoma will continue to have anemic offensive football teams for the foreseeable future. Just imagine how good the combination of Lincoln Riley as an OC and Brent Venables as a DC would be at a top program combined with a competent HC.

OU may lose 6 or more this season, regardless of what they change on offense. Venables made an offensive mistake hitching his wagon to Ben and John.
