Not gonna get an argument from me on that. I thought play calling/sequencing was greedy all game. The only chance Oklahoma had was creating havoc and big plays on defense/special teams. To come out and throw it a ton just increases their chances to make those plays. Could've ran it every play, scored 10 points and won 10-3.
-
Say what you want; the fact of the matter is that we should have never put the kicker in that position. Never! Go back through the sequence of plays and walk it through play by play just in that sequence. Should have never come to a 52 yard field goal.

The momentum and feel of the game. I might be alone but I thought it was less than 50% chance he was gonna make it (he only was 60% from over 50 yards in career).
-
I would say neither. Special teams might not give up another touchdown, but is it really fixed? Most likely is that the offense puts up more points coming up because the defenses aren't good (Defense will give up more points also). Nothing has shown they can adjust or improve.

Kid has been pretty good all year.

@CJ Vogel stay gangster in his press conference today! Dont let him off the hook 🤘 -
Missed field goal felt like a guarantee to me. I doubt I am alone in that. Either way, with how much the donors bought for the offense, including the coach, you should be able to get 2 yards. If you can't, at least they have to go 7 yards further. I felt like there was no chance that the kick was gonna be made.
-
Oh, I am going to have to totally disagree with that. A punt would have been the absolute worst decision. Especially knowing your kicker has hit from that distance already this year. What if you punt and it's a touchback? You gained a whopping 15 yards in field position. If you have that much faith in your defense, which we do, it's even more reason to go for it because defending from your own 35 shouldn't scare you.
-
Hindsight 20-20 Bottom line is, we found a way to lose the game. Gave the damn game away. Sure hope we don't do that again. Not holding my breath.
-
If he had gone for it and got stuffed, the second guessers would have been beating the should have kicked field goal drum. LOL
-
As crazy as it sounds, I think special teams. Scheme and personnel changes are much less nuanced than what need to be done to get the offense right.
-
For me, in the OU game and that environment changes the calculus. The momentum shift of a missed FG or a failed fourth down could break your back. Punt, play defense and force OU to execute coming off its goal line.
-
@Gerry Hamilton @Bobby Burton @Hank South @CJ Vogel @Jeff Howe which is more likely to be corrected this season and why?
-
Field goal was my third choice. 1. Punt, play defense and play to get the ball last. Worst case, you take it to overtime. 2. Go for it 3. Field goal

Elko certainly deserves all the criticism coming his way after that boneheaded statement. TexAgs will still be there after he is long gone. -

It’s a historical perspective that really has no bearing on the 2026 team or season. Fun to look at and compare, but means absolutely nothing in regards to this team. -

Or, he could be purposely pissing them off to fire him and he gets a payout. Pretty sure pissing off the fan base doesn't qualify as a "for cause" dismissal.
