Preseason rankings don't matter. I just want to see us find our identity and rotations earlier than last year. We have the shooting and athleticism. We just need to develop all of their toughness that will translate into stronger defense and rebounding. We'll be scary by midseason.

The Protect College Sports Act requires a school to be independent for a few years if they choose to leave their conference for another conference. This seems like an anticipatory step. In addition, there’s a school of thought that the top revenue generating schools in the most top-heavy P4 conferences would be better off as independents instead of subsidizing the lesser schools of their conferences. If multiple high revenue schools from multiple P4 conferences were to go this route, then Independent scheduling issues go away.

My reason for optimism is that they have made the plays to give them a chance to win the game. Late TD's vs Florida, Oklahoma, and Tennessee, and the 4th quarter vs Ohio State.

31 Ole Miss 27 Texas I predict we get 17 in the first half, fall behind in the second half 31-17 and then score quickly 2 times to make it close. It's hard for me to imagine our offense scoring more than 30 points when we haven't done it yet against a P4 team no matter what changes we make. And Chambliss will test our CBs who have been a bit shaky of late. I hope I'm wrong but this could be day 1 of the beginning of the end of this era of Texas football. If we lose this game, the fit will hit the shan.

I don't think we've had a team this stacked ever. I hope being such a favorite this year doesn't mess up the culture and mentality of the team but we're witnessing potentially a dynasty. If Kevan wins a 3rd, she will be the undisputed best collegiate pitcher of all time and if she pitches for USA next summer, we could be talking about her as the best ever period over Cat. I’m optimistic the defense will do well enough to keep us in the game. but on the flip side I’m not optimistic in our offense keeping us in the game. hopefully they surprise me with an offense that moves the chains and doesn’t let us down again.
