Everybody wants assurances if they pay money to anyone.

Smart roster management is the key. If players want to go live on a desert island with their bag(s)… so be it.

This is so fatiguing. We’re 10 minutes into a new era and I’ve already read a lifetime of fretting, complaining, and doomsdaying. Same thing happened with nil. Other teams jumped “ahead” and started getting kids. Folks complained we’ll never compete because we’re mostly above board. What did Texas do? Waited, researched, learned, and then put together an elite nil approach that served us very well. Thank goodness we have smart, measured, patient, and purposeful leaders to navigate this landscape as well. And oh, the goal is to whip everyone in every sport so miss me with the sky is falling. Texas, if leadership so chooses, will always be top 3-5 because they have every lever at their disposal to pull while doing it right. It’s not patience. It’s intentional prudence. 🤘🏽

It's become a business and roster management is very key, another aspect is, if you give a bunch of money to a recruit, the current players look at it and say, I think I'm worth more than that - so come portal time, they could demand more money or hit the portal. It's a very delicate process, which I'm glad I'm not responsible for.

A&M, Texas isn’t pushing for this one right now either. -
1 for 3 today? Gerry, 2-weeks ago you said if Texas starts losing guys it was leading for you’d be concerned. Then we lose one to Fla, now Ojo looking like Tech. I understand Sark is a closer, but the dynamics have changed - what level of concern do you have? I don’t see a top 5 class unless Texas works in the gray area. Georgia, a&m, USC, Alabama may all finish ahead of Texas.

December won’t be the same. Look what happened to the California TE (Bowmen?), he committed to USC and Texas stopped recruiting him all together. Have you heard any updates on him? No, because he was paid for 2-3 years. Texas isn’t just going to come on money to make him change his mind. the only caveat I would add is if someone fights the House Settlement and it’s determined illegal - that would allow Texas to go above the salary cap and things could change. If things stay the same, Texas doesn’t finish in the top 5.

Texas didn't push late for Calicut, Someone asked which prospects Texas didn't push for late ... I would say NIL match late. Calicut Simeon Texas isn't pushing for Bryce Perry-Wright ... OTF has reported that numerous times. The commitment of Richard Wesley meant Texas wasn't going to push on BP-W. Xavier Griffin wasn't coming to Texas when Tyler Atkinson was brought in for an OV ... so not sure how one calculates that. But OTF reported multiple times that was going to be the case. Texas absolutely wanted Ezavier Crowell, Malakai Lee, Kendall Guervil and Trenton Henderson. Texas will hang around those through senior year.
