GULF SHORES, Ala. – No. 7 Texas Beach Volleyball earned its first-ever spot at the NCAA Championships as the No. 7 seed and will face No. 10 California at Gulf Place in Gulf Shores, Ala., on Friday, May 2 at 1 p.m. Central (ESPN2-TV). Should Texas win its first match, the Longhorns would advance to the quarterfinals and play either No. 2 TCU or No. 15 Georgia State on May 3. Texas and Cal have a 1-1 record this season with both matches going to five sets. The Bears took the last meeting, 3-2, on March 21 in Austin. It was one of just two losses the Longhorns had at home this season. The Longhorns are also one of two teams (Boise State) making their first appearance in the 16-team NCAA Tournament next weekend. The NCAA Tournament will begin on Friday and span through Sunday with the Championship Match scheduled for Sunday, May 4 at 9:30 a.m. Central (ESPN-TV). UT's historic season continues after winning its first Coastal Collegiate Sports Association (CCSA) Tournament title on Saturday. It was the Longhorns' first conference title in their first season in the league. Texas defeated No. 8 Florida State 3-0 in Saturday's championship match and earned three CCSA All-Tournament Team pair honors. Noa Sonneville and Macey Butler, Karin Zolnercikova and Maddison Parmelly and Emma Grace Robertson and Katie Hashman all claimed conference accolades, while the last two were named Pair of the Tournament. The 2024-25 season marks the first NCAA eligible season for Texas and head Coach Stein Metzger. Metzger's team boasts a 27-9 record in just its second sanctioned season as a team.

You know what’s even crazier about this 37-5 team? Three of the five losses were extra innings losses and the 5-3 loss to Texas State I believe we left runners on base in the 9th with a chance to win. Only the LSU loss (which we won the series) was a decisive win for the bad guys . Great team!

With the series sweep over the Ags. We actually clinched Saturday but the sweep makes it that much sweeter.

Schloss and the Texas Longhorns are playing at an unreal level and keep finding ways to win close games down the stretch. This team is really fun to watch for the way they play great team baseball and never give up. Congrats for the first series sweep against A&M in 15 yrs. Who else in the Top 10 comes close right now? No one!! Even with key injuries our Horns have sustained, they keep finding ways to persevere. Among the Top 10 teams this weekend, #2 and #3 were both swept and #4, #5, #6 and #9 all lost their series 1-2. No other team in the Top 10 won all 3 games in their series. That's the Texas' coach's son. When we stole his dad from the Aggies last year their fanbase made a lot of noise about taking names and kicking Texas ass, like "write it down - we won't forget this - you'll pay blah blah". He's mocking them is all.
